  • Patent number: 10980487
Abstract: System and methods that cancel artifacts of stimulation signals from neural signals are disclosed. In several embodiments, the systems and methods determine a threshold value for the neural signal in the absence of artifacts. The threshold value can then be used to detect an artifact in received neural signals. In a number of embodiments, a template can be used to cancel an artifact from a neural signal in response to the neural signal being greater than the threshold value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2017
Date of Patent: April 20, 2021
Assignee: The Regents of the University of California

  • Patent number: 7796718
Abstract: A MIMO Decision Feedback Equalizer improves operation of a receiver by canceling the spatio-temporal interference effects caused by the Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) channel memory with a set of Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters in both the feed-forward and the feedback MIMO filters. The coefficients of these FIR filters can be fashioned to provide a variety of controls by the designer.

  • Patent number: 7415285
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for predicting channel power fading in a wireless communications system. This prediction method estimates the channel power fading via oversampling of the received and transmitted powers. The prediction method is then combined with several proposed structures for closed loop power control. The resulting structures result in improved performance in wireless communications systems.

  • Patent number: 7391350
Abstract: An adaptive multi-bit delta and sigma-delta modulation and demodulation technique, wherein a one-bit modulator generates a binary output signal from an analog input signal and a multi-bit adapter for generating a scaling signal for scaling a step-size of the sigma-delta modulator.

  • Patent number: 7148913
Abstract: A vision-based pointer tracking and object recognizing system is presented. The system comprises a computer system including a processor, a memory coupled with the processor, an input coupled with the processor for receiving a series of image frames from a camera, and an output coupled with the processor for outputting a path of a pointer. The computer system includes a tracking system and a recognition system which are configured to accurately and efficiently track the fingertip of a user in order to allow the user to perform coarse segmentation of an object in preparation for object classification. The tracking system includes a Robust Tracking Filter that accommodates uncertainties. The object recognition system incorporates an invariant object recognition technique that allows objects to be recognized despite changes in user viewpoint.

  • Patent number: 7073113
Abstract: An adaptive sigma-delta modulation and demodulation technique, wherein a quantizer step-size is adapted based on estimates of an input signal to the quantizer, rather than on estimates of an input signal to the modulator.

  • Patent number: 7068742
Abstract: A method and apparatus that provides an accurate estimate of the time and amplitude of arrival of the first arriving overlapping multipath components (rays) in wireless locating finding systems. Overlapping fading multipath components for mobile-positioning are resolved by exploiting the fact that multipath components fade independently. Although fast channel fading is usually considered a challenge to the location finding process, it is used as an additional tool to detect and resolve overlapping multipath rays. A projection technique is also provided that exploits all possible a-priori channel information into a adaptive filtering algorithm, thus providing needed robustness to divergence of the adaptive algorithm that might result from possible severe data matrix ill-conditioning and high noise levels, which are common in wireless location applications.
