  • Publication number: 20060032942
Abstract: A quick disconnect valve is disposed between a water source and a valve-in-head sprinkler. Separating movement of the sprinkler from a valve housing moves a valve to sealing engagement with a valve seat, and spring means urge the valve to engage the valve seat upon separating movement of the sprinkler from the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 6364372
Abstract: A fitting for receiving a pipe end portion, typically in an irrigation system, has an integrally formed half clamp cooperating with a separate half clamp to secure the fitting and pipe against separation, the integral half clamp providing a ledge protrusion which positions a pipe disposed thereon for ready insertion into the fitting.

  • Patent number: 6231083
Abstract: Conduit coupling apparatus has a first conduit with an annular gasket in an outlet portion to receive a second conduit member sealingly and rotatably to retain the lugs on one member engaging flange portions on the other. Lateral conduits are securable about the outlet of the first member by flange portions secured by threaded fasteners, and quick-connect fittings are utilized.

  • Patent number: 5937890
Abstract: A volume control insert for a ball valve that is attachable in a fluid passage of the ball valve to provide a predetermined flow condition therethrough. The insert has a convex shape corresponding to an outer surface of a valving member seated in the ball valve, and has a connector disposed on its periphery to attach the insert across the fluid passage. The insert has an elongate slot through it, such as an oblong or parabolic shaped opening, adapted to provide the predetermined flow condition. A plurality of such inserts may be furnished with a ball valve to provide a range of predetermined flow conditions that may be individually selected for the ball valve. Preferably, each of the inserts include a parabolic opening therethrough, the parabolic opening providing a substantially equal percentage flow characteristic between maximum and minimum flow rate conditions when the valving member is rotated each degree of movement between its full open and full closed positions.

  • Patent number: 5635068
Abstract: A combination centrifugal separator for air and solids has a cylindrical vessel with cylindrical side wall and closing end walls, a vortex finder internally and coaxially disposed within the vessel, an inlet mounted on the vessel in a direction tangential to the periphery of the cylindrical side wall, primary and secondary spin plates coaxially disposed within the vessel, a plurality of vane-shaped ribs connecting the primary and secondary spin plates to the vessel, and a plurality of chambers, i.e., an air collection chamber, a spin chamber and a solids accumulation chamber internally disposed within the vessel. The secondary spin plate preferably is perforated. In operation, contaminated and aerated water enters the vessel and due to the cylindrical wall and gravity, spirals downwardly, until reaching the primary spin plate, whereupon clean water and lighter constituents reverse direction and exit the vessel through the vortex finder.

  • Patent number: 5575308
Abstract: An anchor body defines an open-end receptacle suitable for receiving the valve body of a quick coupling irrigation valve. The anchor body defines an end portion having a threaded aperture therein which receives a threaded bolt. The threaded bolt is adjusted to provide a captivating force upon the valve body and secure it within the open end receptacle. The anchor body further defines a pair of oppositely extending vertical vanes on each side of the open end receptacle together with a pair of horizontal vanes. The vertical vanes cooperate with the surrounding soil pack when the anchor is installed to resist torsional forces applied to the valve while the horizontal vanes cooperate with the surrounding soil to resist vertical forces upon the valve.

  • Patent number: 5433243
Abstract: An automatic fluid flow control device and method are disclosed. The fluid flow control device provides a constant flow rate of strained fluid despite varying differential pressures and employs a combination of a unitary body with a first valve to open or close the device to fluid flow and an integrated, removable strainer in the form of a cup that encircles an inlet of a removable flow control valve. The body is essentially in the shape of a "Y" and provides a compact valve with minimum threaded joints and access to the various components thereof with minimum disassembly. The removable strainer is configured and arranged in a manner so that fluid flows from the outside to the inside of the cup-shaped strainer, allowing easier use and cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5301710
Abstract: The system of the present application include a plurality of flow control devices. The device of the present application, an automatic flow control device, provides means for maintaining a constant flow rate of strained fluid despite varying differential pressures and employs a combination of a unitary body with a ball valve assembly, a strainer assembly, and a flow control valve assembly. The unitary body provides a compact valve with minimum threaded joints and access to the various components thereof with minimum disassembly thereby enabling, for example, changing the flow rate within the device without taking the device off-line or removing various components to allow the device, and the system, to be flushed by subjecting it to excessive flow. The methods of the present application relate to the installation and use of the system.
