Usage data representing user activity, and performance data representing computing hardware resource utilization, is collected from a plurality of virtual machines hosted on one or more virtual computing platforms. The usage data and performance data is then analyzed along with configuration data representing the hardware components of the computing devices operating the virtual computing platform.

Abstract: A system and method for an asset management system with the ability to optimize inventory and asset selection. The management system can receive asset record creation requests which can be stored in an asset database. User devices may be accessed to execute an asset management application and/or program to run the asset management service within the system and perform the aforementioned tasks. The user devices may also be utilized by executing an asset management application and/or program to scan and/or select asset to be checked out. Optimization of inventory is ensured by specifying event and/or action data with regards to asset utilization and performance. Status updates may be provided to the asset management service for updating asset records.
