Abstract: A method for evaluating a chemical treatment at a subsurface for improved well performance may include obtaining information about a post-reaction fluid that results from a fluid flowing through a testing vessel for a period of time, where the testing vessel comprises a plurality of materials, where the plurality of materials is designed to be representative of the subsurface, and where the plurality of materials comprises rock and proppant. The method may also include performing, using the information, a compatibility test on the post-reaction fluid and the plurality of materials after the period of time. The method may further include evaluating, after performing the compatibility test, an effect of the post-reaction fluid on the plurality of materials.

Abstract: An in vitro method predicts the response to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in a subject in need thereof. The method includes determining in an isolated sample of the subject the level of expression of a cardiovascular system functionally related microRNA differentially expressed in patients with cardiovascular disease. The microRNA is selected from the group: miR.100.5p, miR.378a.3p, miR.486.5p, and combinations thereof.

Abstract: A method and firmware for digitally controlling an electro-optical device include steps of receiving as input a first analog signal representative of a measured parameter from an electro-optical device generated by the electro-optical device in response to a second analog signal representative of a set parameter received by the electro-optical device, digitizing the first analog signal to generate a digital feedback value, subtracting the digital feedback value from a digital set point value to calculate a digital error value, calculating a digital cumulative error sum from the digital error value, calculating a digital control value as a function of the cumulative error sum, converting the digital control value to the second analog signal, and driving the electro-optical device toward the digital set point value with the second analog signal.
