Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling high temperature components of a circuit board is disclosed. The heat exchanger may comprise a housing including a coolant inlet, a coolant outlet, a first side wall, a second side wall, and an upper housing portion assembled with a lower housing portion. The heat exchanger may further include a first array of plates on the upper housing portion, and a second array of plates on the lower housing portion extending parallel to and interleaved with the first array of plates. • Patent number: 10539145
Abstract: An engine turbocharger (10) includes a radially oriented oil deflector (50) that incorporates an oil guiding feature (70) to improve control of a continuous turbulent mass of oil being impelled against the deflector by an oil flinger (35). The oil deflector (50) has a downwardly extending tongue (60) to assist in directing oil flow from a thrust bearing chamber. The feature (70), formed on the tongue (60), enhances otherwise gravitationally directed oil flow into an engine oil sump. The feature is vertically oriented, and redirects oil thrown axially and rotationally against the deflector, providing improved piston ring sealing through more efficient evacuation of oil from the thrust bearing chamber. The feature may be formed by stamping, as either an integral disruptive surface rib, or as an otherwise radially oriented flange protruding axially from the surface of the tongue. Such flange may be integral with, or otherwise attached to, the oil deflector tongue, as for example via welding.

  • Publication number: 20160356181
Abstract: A turbocharger includes a first housing having a first annular surface and a second housing having a second annular surface. A projection defined integrally on the first annular surface. A recess is formed integrally on the second annular surface. The projection is disposed in the recess and engagement of the projection with the recess restrains rotation of the first housing with respect to the second housing.

  • Patent number: 7850420
Abstract: The present invention broadly comprises a blade for a torque converter stator including a first blade segment connected to inner and outer circumferential sections of the stator and a second blade segment, separately formed from the first blade segment, and connected to the circumferential sections. In some aspects, the blade segments are: in contact along edges, overlapped, circumferentially misaligned, at least partially folded, stamped, or cast. Configurations of the blade segments can be selected to modify performance characteristics of the stator such as torque ratio, efficiency, and capacity. In some aspects, the blade segments are in a circumferential alignment, and the stator includes an alignment element operatively arranged to control the circumferential alignment, for example, in response to pressure from fluid in the stator upon the blade. In some aspects, the stator includes axial halves, separately formed and fixedly connected and the blade segments are connected to respective halves.

  • Patent number: 7513345
Abstract: The present invention is one or more torque converter clutch friction pad attached to a friction plate configured to more easily remove heat generated by the friction of a clutch engaging the friction plate. The invention resides in one or more circular grooves set into the friction surface of the friction pad and connected to a plurality of radial grooves. One or more boats or protrusions functionally attached to the clutch pressure plate and/or the torque converter housing fits into the circular groove. When the clutch is engaged, the boats rotate through the circumferential groove pulling oil from the rear radial groove into the circumferential groove and pushing oil into the forward radial groove. The heat generated in the friction plate is transferred to the oil in the circumferential groove and removed from the friction pad when the rotating boat pushes it into the forward radial groove.
