    Abstract: Locking devices for attaching an abrasive disk to a grinder are provided by a backup pad and lock nut combination wherein the mounting aperture of the backup pad is shaped to correspond to the exterior surface of the barrel of the lock nut, which is provided with at least two planar surfaces. This is particularly useful in securing correct alignment where the backup pad is intended to support an abrasive disk having a specific configuration that requires the disk and the backup pad to be aligned in a specific way.
