  • Patent number: 9330697
Abstract: A disk drive head suspension including a load beam, a flexure on the load beam, and a load point dimple extending from the load beam toward the flexure. A constrained damper is located on the flexure and is engaged by the load point dimple. The constrained damper includes a layer of viscoelastic material on the flexure, and a metal constraining layer on the viscoelastic material. The flexure can be a co-located dual stage actuated flexure that includes a motor, and the constrained damper can be located on the motor.

  • Patent number: 8885297
Abstract: Various embodiments concern a dual stage actuation flexure having a motor contact paddle for connecting to a terminal of a piezoelectric motor. The flexure comprises a paddle having a top side and a bottom side, the paddle comprising at least one void, each void extending through the paddle from the bottom side to the top side. The paddle further comprises a stainless steel base, a conductor comprising a layer of metal, and a dielectric layer having a first section and a second section, the first section positioned between the conductor and the stainless steel base to overlap the stainless steel base and the second section extending beyond the stainless steel base to not overlap the stainless steel base. The bottom side of the paddle is configured to connect to the terminal with electrically conductive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 7961434
Abstract: A disk drive head suspension having a leaf-type gram load spring. One embodiment of the suspension includes a base plate and a load beam. The load beam is formed from a single piece of stainless steel and includes a mounting region, a beam region, a spring region between the mounting region and beam region, and a leaf spring extending from the beam region. The mounting region of the load beam is attached to the base plate, with a proximal end portion of the leaf spring overlaying the base plate. The leaf spring can have a formed bend in the z-height direction and is forced into a loaded state before the proximal end is welded to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 7804664
Abstract: A headlift for a disk drive head suspension extending from a planar base region on a load beam of the head suspension. The headlift is formed from first and second layers of relatively stiff metal separated by a layer of polymer. The headlift includes a headlift tab and a stiffener extending over at least a portion of the headlift tab. The headlift tab includes a convex headlift region formed out of one of the two metal layers. The stiffener is formed from one of the two metal layers or from a combination of the polymer layer and one of the two metal layers.
