Publication number: 20260036661Abstract: A solar tracking system comprises a plurality of solar panel modules, each independently orientatable relative to a solar source. A control system determines a topography associated with the solar panel modules and generates, for each module, a performance model based at least in part on the topography and weather data. The control system independently orients each solar panel module to the solar source based on the respective performance model to optimize energy output from the array. The topography may indicate relative positions or heights of the modules and can be determined using laser site surveys, energy readings from photovoltaics, or aerial imaging. The weather data may include direct normal irradiance, global horizontal irradiance, or diffuse horizontal irradiance. The control system may periodically update the performance model for each module and account for interactions between neighboring modules due to shading.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2025Publication date: February 5, 2026Inventors: Yudong MA, Francesco Borrelli, Allan Daly, Yang Liu

Publication number: 20250342412Abstract: Given the remote location, large surface areas, and repetitive nature of assembling and installation works for a typical large solar project, it is vital to track production, productivity, logistics, safety, and quality to meet requirement of project cost, progress, safety, etc. The invention enables passive, real-time, objective, and accurate data feed from the field to the project supervision team (foremen, superintendents, construction managers, project managers) in a combined hardware and software product. The present disclosure describes system and method embodiments that utilize algorithms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to translate data feed into actionable insights delivered through a hybrid edge and centralized platform. This enables appropriate actions for solar project supervision and management in a timely manner, which results in increased production rates, increased productivity, a safer work environment and a higher quality project.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2024Publication date: November 6, 2025Applicant: Terabase Energy, Inc.Inventors: Matthew Paul Campbell, Allan Daly, Pierre Michel Daniel Gousseland, Peter Thomas May-Ostendorp, Davin Greene Smith

Publication number: 20250221084Abstract: Solar panels may have manufacturing defects that warrant a recall by solar panel manufacturers. Given the large quantity of solar panels in a solar farm, it is challenging to identify and track those panels affected by the recall. The present invention describes system and method embodiments for solar panel tracking for the convenience of solar panel service or replacement. Panel identifiers of solar panels in a solar table installed on an installation site of a solar farm are scanned such that the panel identifiers of the solar panels may be associated with the geographical information at the installation site. A geographical database for solar panels may be created and updated, with each panel having an entry of panel information and geographical information. When a recall is issued, involved solar panels in the solar farm may be quickly and accurately identified using the geographical database.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2023Publication date: July 3, 2025Applicant: Terabase Energy, Inc.Inventors: Allan Daly, Peter Long Martin, Javid Morteza Alasti, Soren Jensen

Patent number: 12264832Abstract: A testing platform tests an electrical and mechanical system such as an HVAC unit according to an algorithm that reduces the total testing time of the components of the system, while ensuring the safety of the system during system-wide testing. The platform uses constraints that are checked both before and during the testing to ensure that HVAC operating conditions are acceptable for starting and maintaining component tests. Preferably, the platform uses finite-state machines for each device to organize the component tests, allowing for monitoring of constraints and starting, pausing, and stopping component tests. Preferably, total test execution time is reduced by running component tests in parallel, running component tests based on loads of the components, or combinations of both.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2024Date of Patent: April 1, 2025Assignee: NEXTRACKER LLCInventors: Bruce Christopher Wootton, Rory Joseph Timar, Colin Patrick Murphy, Francesco Borrelli, Allan Daly
