  • Publication number: 20170085984
Abstract: A speaker includes a speaker enclosure including a peripheral sound wave exit to emit sound waves peripherally. A driver is connected to the speaker enclosure. The driver includes a speaker cone having an outer portion connected to a mounting plate that is disposed adjacent the peripheral sound wave exit. A phase plug includes a first portion positioned substantially parallel and adjacent to part of the speaker cone and a second portion that extends outwards toward a circumference of the speaker enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9596553
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, an apparatus for performing an audio measurement is provided. The apparatus includes a controller that is programmed to generate an audio test signal based on a first frequency range that comprises a first noise spectrum, a second frequency range that comprises a second noise spectrum, and a third frequency range that comprises a third noise spectrum and to transmit the audio test signal to an audio device that generates an audio response signal responsive to the audio test signal. The controller is further programmed to receive the audio response signal and to determine audio related characteristics for the audio device in response to the audio response signal.

  • Patent number: 7890312
Abstract: A method is provided for predicting the performance of a loudspeaker port and optimizing port design. The method involves defining the geometries of a loudspeaker port, modeling the bi-directional fluid flow in the defined port utilizing a modeling method known as Computation Fluid Dynamics (“CFD”) and analyzing the flow model to determine whether the flow characteristic displayed in the model represent optimum flow characteristics for port performance. To optimize port design, the geometries of the port may be altered and modeled until the flow characteristic represents flow indicative of optimum port performance.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20050063554
Abstract: A system is provided for configuring an audio system for a given space. The system may statistically analyze potential configurations of the audio system to configure the audio system. The potential configurations may include positions of the loudspeakers, numbers of loudspeakers, types of loudspeakers, listening positions, correction factors, filters, or any combination thereof. The statistical analysis may indicate at least one metric of the potential configuration including indicating consistency of predicted transfer functions, flatness of the predicted transfer functions, differences in overall sound pressure level from seat to seat for the predicted transfer functions, efficiency of the predicted transfer functions, or the output of predicted transfer functions.
