  • Patent number: 8818012
Abstract: An adjustable, dual speaker element earphone. One of the speaker elements is sized to fit into the cavum concha of the listeners ear and the other element is not. A hinged joint may allow the larger speaker element may be rotated about a vertical axis of the hinged joint so that the larger speaker element can be rotated towards or away from the listener's ear. The speaker elements may be connected such that sounds produced by both speaker elements emanate from different respective sound openings defined in a surface of the smaller speaker element. Also, one or both of the speaker elements may be operably connected to a hanger bar that is sized and configured to rest on an upper portion of the listener's ear.

  • Patent number: 7428429
Abstract: A hands-free personal communication device is worn about a user's neck. The communication device includes an elongated elastic neckband for supporting the communication device about the user's neck. The elastic neckband has memory characteristic and is bendable along its length such that the neckband is formable into and out of various selectable positions. An acoustic output device is attached to the neckband and positioned near an ear of the user when the communication device is worn about the user's neck. A microphone is attached to an end of the neckband. A detachable earbud may be attached to an end of the neckband.

  • Patent number: 5109424
Abstract: A headphone having a dual element speaker unit including a face plate having an opening generally centrally located therein. A case coupler is mounted in the opening, and has an annular projection protruding through the opening. A first dynamic transducer is mounted within that annular projection. A second dynamic transducer is mounted to the case coupler opposite the first transducer. The case coupler includes an isolating plate, positioned between the first and second transducers, for sonically isolating the first transducer from the second. A grill plate is mounted over the annular projection, for providing a load to the first transducer. The isolating plate includes an opening, located outside the periphery of the annular projection, for allowing the passage of sound from the second transducer to the listener. A support assembly is connected to the face plate, and a cup assembly in turn connected to the support assembly.

  • Patent number: 4899388
Abstract: A stereophonic audio system including a device for providing a stereophonic signal, such as an audio receiver. An infrared transmitter connected to the receiver converts the audio signal to an infrared signal to be radiated throughout a signal area. Within this signal area is disposed a pair of loudspeakers, each selecting a separate portion of the infrared signal, converting that one portion of the infrared signal to an audible sound signal, and radiating the sound throughout a listening area. Each loudspeaker includes a filter for selecting the one infrared signal which applies to it. The transmitter includes a plug engageable with a headphone jack of the receiver for electrically connecting the transmitter to the receiver and an infrared diode array for radiating the signal within the signal area.
