  • Patent number: 5522942
Abstract: A synergistic cleaning composition has been discovered comprising an aqueous solution a quaternary ammonium compound component; a nonionic surfactant component; and a glycol ether solvent. Surprisingly, the combination of the quaternary ammonium compound component, the nonionic surfactant component, and glycol ether solvent provides a synergistic effect where the cleaning composition functions with a low level of quaternary ammonium compound component while still maintaining at least one of the following desirable properties, as follows: an acceptable cleaning efficacy; a low level irritation or toxicity profile; and/or a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 1995
Date of Patent: June 4, 1996
    Assignee: Reckitt & Colman Inc.
Inventors: Beth T. G. Graubart, Allan L. Streit, Ernest J. Sachs, Carol A. Beronio

  • Patent number: 4963432
Abstract: A wiper for one step polishing and protecting of a hard surface such as wood and plastic surfaces, e.g. furniture, comprises a nonwoven substrate impregnated with a liquid polish composition comprising by weight of the composition: (a) from about 0.7 to about 7% of an organic polysiloxane having a viscosity of from about 50 to about 100 centistokes at 25.degree. C.; (b) from about 0.1 to about 3.5 of an organic polysiloxane having a viscosity of about 1000 to about 25,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C.; (c) from 0 to about 1.4% of an aminofunctional silicone fluid; (d) from about 0.1 to about 1% of a wax; (e) from about 1 to about 15% of a hydrocarbon solvent having an initial boiling point above about 98.degree. C. and an end boiling point below about 200.degree. C.; (f) from about 0.05 to about 2% of a nonionic emulsifier; and (g) the remainder to 100% water; wherein the ratio of (a) to (b) is from about 2 to 1 to about 5 to 1, the substrate has a basis weight of from about 30 to about 90 g/sq.yd.

  • Patent number: 4948531
Abstract: Compositions for cleaning hard surfaces, which are formulated to leave on the surface simultaneously with the cleaning thereof a protective barrier layer which serves to protect the surface against further soil deposition, comprising: (A), as cleaning agents, from one to two nonionic surfactants and an amphoteric surfactant; (B), as protective barrier components, lecithin and an aminofunctional polydimethylsiloxane copolymer; (C), as solvency and grease cutting agents, from one to two glycols; and (D) water.
