  • Patent number: 11193916
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of calibrating a gas sensor comprising a luminescent compound having a luminescence lifetime that is quenched by a gaseous substance which uses a model of the relationship between the luminescence lifetime and the concentration of the gaseous substance that is modified by a calibration factor representing a proportion of the compound not being exposed to the gaseous substance, the method comprising: measuring values of the luminescence lifetime of the luminescent compound while the gas sensor is exposed to at least two known concentrations of the gaseous substance; and deriving the calibration factor from the measured values of the luminescence lifetime using the model. Also disclosed are a corresponding gas sensor apparatus for measuring the concentration of a gaseous substance in an environment, and method of measuring a concentration of a gaseous substance in an environment using a gas sensor.

  • Patent number: 10900892
Abstract: There is provided a method of validating a calibration of a sensor represented by a calibrated relationship between concentration of an analyte in a sample and measurements from a sensor of an optical property of a sensing substance, wherein the optical property of the sensing substance has a spectrum that varies with the concentration of the analyte in the sample, and the spectrum has an isosbestic wavelength at which the optical property does not vary with concentration of the analyte, the method comprising making measurements of the optical property at three or more wavelengths of light while the sensing substance is exposed to the sample, determining whether the measurements of the optical property are inconsistent with the calibrated relationship, and outputting a warning signal in response to the measurements of the optical property being inconsistent with the calibrated relationship.

  • Patent number: 8645457
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that may be used for the creation of user defined objects arising from the implicit interaction of a user with a network resource. The objects are made generally available within the network. A network resource in communication with a network maintains content accessible by a plurality of users of the network. An agent provided to a user device identifies an implicit interaction with a portion of the content and transmits information associated with the implicit interaction to another computing system communicatively connected to the network. The information includes a URL identifying the network resource and the portion of the content and is provided in a user-defined object on the network. Frequency of occurrence of a URL in a plurality of the objects can be used to determine relevance of a network resource and its content.

  • Patent number: 8626757
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for intercepting user interactions without network provided content. The intercepted information can be used for prioritizing search results by statistical and other analysis of user interactions with a network resource and/or network content. A server connected to a network can receive captured information from an agent that is installed in a device connected to the network. The captured information can be related to an interaction of a user with a network resource. An aggregator may be provided to aggregate the captured information with other captured information related to a plurality of network resources and maintains a repository of aggregated captured information. A prioritizer can determine the relevance of network content based on characteristics of the aggregated captured information. The prioritizer determines relevance for a plurality of search results based on frequency of prior user interactions with the content of the search results.

  • Publication number: 20080104203
Abstract: Methods and systems described herein provide a name-based access mechanism that can enable name-based requests to be generated and sent to a server to retrieve correspondingly named parts of a document. In at least some embodiments, a resource designator associated with the document is wrapped or encapsulated using a special scheme which appends a name associated with the desired document part to the encapsulated resource designator Once a server receives the encapsulated resource designator, the server can locate the named document part and stream or otherwise provide the document part to the requesting client device.

  • Patent number: 5954137
Abstract: Completion method for avoiding formation impairment in the completion of a wellbore by anchoring and activating a plug at a selected position in the wellbore to seal off a selected portion of the wellbore from other portions of the wellbore. The plug is positioned at the selected position in the wellbore and anchored at that position. A seal in the plug is then activated such that fluid cannot pass the plug. Other parts of the wellbore can then be operated at different pressures than the isolated part of the wellbore without impairment of the formation resulting from the loss of well fluids into the formation.
