  • Patent number: 8088371
Abstract: Methods are described for using compositions containing platelet-rich plasma for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. A platelet-rich plasma composition is introduced into the muscle or soft tissue in the area of hypovascularity to treat the peripheral vascular disease.

  • Publication number: 20100233282
Abstract: A method of delivering a bioactive composition to the right side of the heart is described. The method can be used to treat cardiac dysfunction such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias or congestive heart failure. A dual lumen catheter is described for delivering the bioactive substance by inserting a first cannula of a dual lumen catheter into a vein to access the right ventricle. The first cannula has a first balloon which is blown up proximal to the tricuspid valve. A second cannula is then introduced which accesses the right side of the heart and coronary sinus. The bioactive substance is then delivered to the right side of the heart. The bioactive substance may include platelets and/or white blood cells at concentrations higher than what is normally found in whole blood.

  • Publication number: 20100135969
Abstract: Platelets are concentrated from the blood of a patient. The platelets are treated by a method such as ultrasound or agitation to obtain platelet releasate. This releasate as a whole or a component thereof is formulated into an injectable formulation which is administered to the same patient the platelets were extracted from in order to treat the patient's cancer.

  • Publication number: 20100120144
Abstract: A blood component such as platelets is concentrated. The concentrate, such as platelet-rich plasma, is used in a cell culture medium to grow and proliferate cells. The cells may be from the same person from which the blood concentrate is obtained. The cells grown in the culture medium may be used to treat a patient which may be the same patient from which the blood was extracted and/or the cells were obtained.
