  • Patent number: 11142288
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a bending strain relief (BSR) assembly that limits the bending strain and radius of a marine cable. The BSR assembly includes a coupler attached to first and second elongated BSR members, each BSR member having first and second ends distally spaced from the first end. The first ends including an abutment surface dimensioned for attachment to the coupler. The BSR members each have an inner arcuate surface that is adapted to abut at least a portion of a perimeter of the marine cable and dimensioned for mating receipt with one another at opposing sides of the marine cable. A plurality of rigid support members are disposed in spaced relation and aligned along a common axis and the inner arcuate surfaces of the first and second elongated BSR members. The cable is supported within the inner arcuate surfaces of the first and second BSR members.

  • Patent number: 6010273
Abstract: A suspension system (10) for mid-span connection of a paravane (P) or other article to a cable (C1) of a towed cable array (A) includes first and second hanger assemblies (20a,20b) connected to the cable (C1) in an axially spaced relationship. In particular, the hanger assemblies (20a,20b) are connected respectively to first and second bulbous cable regions. The bulbous cable regions are formed on the cable using inner insert elements (40), a first set of preformed helical rods (22), outer insert elements (42) positioned over the first set of helical rods (22) in the region of the inner insert elements (40), and an outer set of preformed helical rods (24). Each hanger assembly (20a,20b) includes a housing (30a,30b) and a rotatable collar (52a,52b) connected to the housing. An attachment member (80a,80b) is pivotally connected to the collar and rotates therewith.

  • Patent number: 4794957
Abstract: A bending strain relief includes a generally transparent, flexible member for receipt over a hose assembly. An opening extends longitudinally through the strain relief having a cross-sectional dimension greater than the cross-sectional dimension of the hose assembly. The cross-sectional dimension is also designed for interference fit with a swaged region or coupling end of the hose assembly. A stiffener member having a generally helical conformation extends from an outer end of the bending strain relief toward an inner end thereof. A first region of the bending strain relief encapsulates the stiffener member therein, and a second region is void of any stiffener member. The longitudinal opening of the bending strain relief is preferably non-circular and is designed to provide an interference fit with a coupling nut to hold the bending strain relief in place.

  • Patent number: 4431863
Abstract: A boot forming member for externally and internally covering end portions of rods surrounding a cable. The boot forming member includes a flat sheet of elastomeric material wrappable around the cable when the rod end portions are spaced outwardly from the cable to provide an inner sleeve portion surrounding the cable beneath the rod end portions and an outer sleeve portion surrounding the cable axially beyond the rod end portions. After the rod end portions are moved inwardly in close surrounding relationship to the inner sleeve portion, the outer sleeve portion is pulled inside out in external covering relationship to the rod end portions.
