  • Patent number: 6100021
Abstract: Provided is an improved sensitization method for photographic element. The photographic element comprises a support with at least one hydrophilic colloid layer coated thereon. The hydrophilic colloid layer comprises silver halide grains which are chemically sensitized with at least one compound represented by Formula 1:(OCH).sub.2 R.sup.1 (LHSO.sub.3).sub.2 Formula 1and at least one selenium compound. In formula 1, R.sup.1 represents an alkyl of 1-8 carbons; and L represents and alkali metal. The selenium compound is chosen from a group consisting of R.sup.2 SeCN, (R.sup.3).sub.3 PSe and ((R.sup.4).sub.2 NCO).sub.2 Se wherein R.sup.2 represents an alkyl of 1 to 8 carbons, or an alkali metal atom; R.sup.3 independently represents an aryl of 6 to 10 carbons or an alkyl of 1 to 8 carbons; and R.sup.4 independently represents an aryl of 6 to 10 carbons or an alkyl of 1 to 8 carbons.

  • Patent number: 5409809
Abstract: An improved stabilizer is provided with decreased fog and minimal loss of photographic speed. The stabilizers are represented byA-(Y).sub.n -Bwherein;n is 0 or 1;Y is --S--, --CH.sub.2 S--, or 2,6 disubstituted pyridine with the proviso that when Y is --CH.sub.2 S-- the substituent A is attached to the sulfur;when Y is --S-- or --CH.sub.2 S-- A is pyrimidine, tetrazole, benzoxazole, benzimidazole, benzothiazole, benzoselenazole, naphthoxazole, or ##STR1## B and E separately are phenyl substituted with at least one electron accepting group or pyridine substituted with at least one electron accepting group with the proviso that when Y is --S--CH.sub.2 -- A is not tetrazole when B is phenyl;when Y is 2,6 disubstituted pyridine A represents hydrogen, benzoxazole, benzimidazole, benzothiazole, benzselenazole, naphthoxazole;B represents benzoxazole, benzimidazole, benzothiazole, benzselenazole, naphthoxazole and with the provisio that when Y is S, A-(Y).sub.n -B is limited to specific components.

  • Patent number: 5258276
Abstract: A ternary surfactant system useful in reducing the propensity of silver halide elements to generate unwanted static is described. This ternary system comprises a mixture of a specific anionic and two specific nonionic surfactants and produces a surprising synergistic result. A solution of this ternary system is also useful in reducing static produced on the surface of an X-ray intensifying screen.

  • Patent number: 5083665
Abstract: A novel process for the packaging of double-side coated X-ray films is described. This process employs the use of plastic or plastic or polymer coated cardboard as top and bottom stiffening members in a stack of sheets of the X-ray film. The top and bottom sheets of film packaged in this manner will harden in the same way as the remainder of the sheets whereas film packaged with conventional, plain cardboard stiffening members will not.

  • Patent number: 4514492
Abstract: Desensitization defects due to nonferrous metal contamination of a silver halide film sensitized by a cysteine-thiazolidine moiety are decreased by incorporating a chelating agent such as quinaldic or picolinic acid into one or more layers of the film.

  • Patent number: 4383030
Abstract: The sensitivity of a gelatino-silver halide emulsion is improved by adding glutaraldehyde bisulfite in combination with benzene sulfinic acid during the preparation of the silver halide, viz. when a silver salt is mixed with a halide to precipitate a silver halide.
