    Abstract: A cardiac rhythm management system includes an electrosurgery mode of operating an implantable cardiac rhythm management device, such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, or pacer/defibrillator. In electrosurgery mode, certain device parameters are programmed to particular electrosurgery mode values in order to increase the immunity of the implanted device to electromagnetic interference during electrosurgery. Electrosurgery mode device parameter values include both previously-programmed values and different values that are particular to electrosurgery mode. Electrosurgery mode is initiated by an external programmer, which enables electrosurgery mode parameters, displays an indicator to the user, and disables further device parameter programming until electrosurgery mode is terminated by a user request from the external programmer. Electrosurgery mode includes asynchronous pacing, such as DOO mode providing atrial and ventricular pacing at previously programmed rate, AV delay, amplitudes, and pulse widths.
