Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for computer aided design with connectivity filtering during shape synthesis, include: a three-dimensional modeling program configured to provide disconnection detection, shape synthesis, and/or connectivity filtering during shape and/or topology optimization. The three-dimensional modeling program can be an architecture, engineering and/or construction program (e.g., building information management program), a product design and/or manufacturing program (e.g., a CAM program), and/or a media and/or entertainment production program (e.g., an animation production program).

Abstract: A motor/damper assembly installable on the top end of a fuel-fired water heater includes a support plate structure upon which a flue collar with a pivotally supported flue damper, a drive motor, and a drive shaft interconnecting the motor damper are mounted. The assembly is installed by placing the collar over the upper end of the water heater flue, securing the support plate structure to the top end of the water heater, and positioning a top cover housing on the support plate structure. Using the assembly provides improved support rigidity and alignment for the motor and shaft relative to the damper, improved repeatable precise manufacturing placement of the motor and shaft, improved construction aesthetics, with the cover also protecting the shaft from shipping and handling damages.

The extension member can be adapted to extend from the base member by a predetermined length for matching a length of a collar into which the adjustable collar stay is inserted. The base member includes a plurality of first dimples on a top surface thereof. The extension member includes a plurality of second dimples on a bottom surface thereof. Alternatively the extension member includes a plurality of openings. When the extension member is slidably positioned to adjust the length of the adjustable collar stay to a predetermined length, the second dimples are positioned within spaces between the first dimples or the openings receive the first dimples for retaining the adjustable collar stay at the predetermined length. The extension member can be formed of flexible expandable mesh.

Abstract: A common index fund system and method enables investment in entities that is indexed to a common index, rather than individual company performance. For small business entities, the creation, issuance, trading and management of fund shares as a liquid investment may be accomplished with, for example, a relatively stable industry-based risk. The entities receive value from a pool and in return make payments into the pool in an amount that varies according to the index, which causes a corresponding change in the value of the shares.
