  • Publication number: 20200383678
Abstract: Provided herein are a suture system and a method for using the suture system to move and fixate tissue in a desired position. The suture system may have one or more anchors with protrusions extending from each body of the anchors. The protrusions may pierce and engage surrounding tissue when the suture system is inserted subcutaneously into tissue. The suture system may then be used to pull the engaged tissue in a desired direction and fixate the tissue in a desired location. Each anchor may have fenestrations disposed within each body of the anchors so that tissue may grow into the fenestrations to anchor the suture system within the engaged tissue even after the protrusions have dissolved.

  • Publication number: 20160041162
Abstract: Following a novel immunotherapy process the archived aliquots of biologic material from each successive process is used to form a library in which further novel therapy can be developed. The patients essentially serve as the biologic assay for successful antigen processing response in the form of clinical response (i.e. tumor shrinkage, improvement in clinical status of disease). Only archived biologic material of clinically successful patients are then further used for further drug development. These patients are also evaluated for a positive MCH I or MHC II response. In the case of MHC II or antibody response: antibody producing cells (B-cells) are harvested or biopsied from various B-cell containing tissues and fused with multiple myeloma cells to form a further antibody production library, which may be further screened for antibodies to relevant antigens.

  • Publication number: 20160024469
Abstract: The proposed patent is a method of immunotherapy wherein unique and novel sources of antigen generating organisms/viruses/cells are incubated or electroporated into further novel immunogenic cells. This method may be used for cancer therapy or therapy of benign disease. This method may also be used for immunization from infectious organisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses or parasites. An aliquot of cells or materials obtained from the antigen generating component or electroporated immunogenic cells may be preserved long-term (i.e. cryopreservation or lyophilization or desiccation) for the purpose of forming a library or archive for future therapy or drug development/research.

  • Publication number: 20140147877
Abstract: A method and device for processing mammalian adipose tissue such that the vascular rich fraction is separated from the vascular poor fraction, Mammalian adipose tissue in the form of morselated surgical biopsies and/or lipoaspirate from liposuction is placed within a novel syringe attached to a detection device measuring either color, light saturation, infra-red light, heme, iron or oxygen saturation. This process involves no label and minimal manipulation and handling of the tissue. This process and device may also be used intra-operatively under sterile conditions for immediate use within the same individual receiving liposuction or surgery.

  • Patent number: 8283169
Abstract: A device and method in which cells of a heterogeneous population are separated through a column partially packed with antibody coated beads. The antibody coated beads may be placed in a gradient fashion such that each layer binds to and selects a subset of cells from the entire sample population. A lipoaspirate fluid, or other fluid containing cells, may be brought through the column by positive pressure on the specimen bag side and negative pressure at the base of the column with a vacuum line and waste trap. The column may then be inverted and irrigated internally with a wash buffer to remove unhomogenized macroscopic tissue material and unbound residual cells. The column may be closed at the ends and shaken and/or washed with an enzymatic buffer. Cells may be removed from the device with an elution buffer.

  • Publication number: 20110287546
Abstract: A method and apparatus whereby prokaryotic, eukaryotic and/or mammalian cells may have genetic agents inserted or removed or transferred in an automated and semi-quantitative fashion. The functional unit of the invention is composed of two rectangular plates: a contact plate with circular holes and a carefully aligned base plate with a pleurality of rods, which protrude through the center of the holes of the contact plate. The edges of the two plates are sealed lengthwise to create a space whereby fluid may flow through the proximal and distal openings to induce a negative pressure, vacuum suction, venturi effect at each hole of the contact plate. The rods and base plate may be coated with an electronically magnetizable surface which may attract and hold or repulse and release any magnetically responsive genetic agents.

  • Publication number: 20110286882
Abstract: The invention is an automated infection control surface, which may be placed on the sole of a shoe or on the ground in the form of a floor mat/tile. The invention is composed of a series of individual light sources or LEDs (light emitting diodes) capable of emitting ultraviolet sanitizing light. When in the format of a shoe, there is an electronic switch in the form of a pressure sensor which is triggered when the operator's foot is planted within the shoe and standing firmly on the ground. When the pressure sensor is triggered the electrical current passes from the power source to the light sources or LEDs and illumination of sanitizing light occurs. When the shoe is lifted off the ground and when there is no weight or pressure within the shoe, the pressure sensor is turned off and the LEDs turn off. In this way the shoe is only capable of triggering UV microbicidal activity when the sole is flush to the ground, thus preventing inadvertent UV light scatter and potential skin and eye damage.

  • Publication number: 20090263490
Abstract: A device composed of a plurality of beeswax microspheres are contained within a digestible capsule intended for the alimentary tract of the mammal. A method in which the device is ingested orally into the digestive system. A method in which digestive enzymes remove the outside capsule and beeswax microspheres are then dispersed within the gastrointestinal tract. The beeswax microsphere is then able to come in contact with free fats, lipids, cholesterol and lipophillic toxins within the gut and absorb them into the lumen of the microsphere. The beeswax microsphere along with all the fats, lipids, cholesterol and lipophillic toxins contained within the microsphere transits through the remainder of the gut undigested and are eventually excreted from the rectum and bowel by fecal elimination.
