  • Publication number: 20220104539
Abstract: Smoking pipe with an active smoke cooling chamber. A smoking pipe with a material bowl used for the burning of smoking materials, multiple chambers that are filled with smoke as the user inhales smoke into pipe using a mouthpiece, a chamber equipped with an thermoelectric heat exchanger, a control unit to regulate temperatures within the heat exchange chamber and a system to receive and provide data to user. The cooling chamber uses thermoelectric heat exchangers to change the temperature within its walls, the lowering of the temperature within the chamber cools the smoke as it passes through. The cooling chamber connects to a mouthpiece through an aft passage, the user inhales smoke which is now at a reduced temperature using a mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 10963141
Abstract: Embodiments for manipulating an object, such as an image, are described. For example, a content application renders the object and supports multiple manipulation modes. A GUI of the application is available at a touch screen of a computing device. A mapping of standard touch screen gestures and object manipulations are defined for each manipulation mode. One of the modes is a standard manipulation mode that supports standard object manipulations. At least one other mode is a special manipulation mode. In this special mode, the standard user gestures are mapped to application-defined manipulations that are different from the standard object manipulations. Based on a user selection of one of the manipulation modes, the selected mode is activated. While in the activated manipulation mode, a standard user gesture is received and the relevant object manipulation is applied to the object.

  • Publication number: 20200164006
Abstract: Provided herein are compositions comprising a carrier and one or more bioactive agents in which one or more bioactive agents are incorporated into said carrier. Sugars that are naturally present with one or more bioactive agents as mixture are preferentially excluded out of said carrier in the composition. The compositions have wide applications including, but not limited to food and beverage industries. Also provided are methods of incorporating one or more bioactive agents into a carrier, compositions comprising a carrier and one or more bioactive agents and use of such methods and compositions, and kits. The methods are useful for (a) improving color, thermal, photo, and oxidative stability of bioactive agents, e.g., natural food colorants and other bioactive ingredients, (b) reducing and eliminating the usage of artificial chemicals such as sacrificial antioxidants and metal ion chelators that are used to improve bioactive stability.

  • Patent number: 9046407
Abstract: A system and method for measuring the liquid level in a tank or container is provided. The system can have a sensor string comprising a plurality of analog output hall-effect sensors and a computer readable memory containing sensor string information, a float having a magnetic field and positionable relative to the sensor string, and a controller containing at least one processing unit, at least one memory and a sensor string interface for connecting the controller to the sensor string. The system can be operative to obtain the sensor string information from the at least one memory of the sensor string, obtain a preloaded waveform indicating the output of a sensor relative to the position of the float and approximate the position of the float relative to the sensor string using the normalized output of at least one of the sensors and the preloaded waveform.

  • Patent number: 8590515
Abstract: Described are methods and systems for powering an Otto-cycle engine using gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG). The Otto-cycle engine can be powered by determining a quantity of the gasoline and a quantity of the CNG to deliver to a cylinder of the engine during an engine cycle such that combustion within the cylinder occurs at a pre-determined air-fuel ratio; delivering the quantity of the gasoline to the cylinder via a gasoline injector and delivering the quantity of the CNG to the cylinder via a CNG injector such that the gasoline and the CNG combust during the same combustion event; and combusting the gasoline and the CNG within the cylinder. Delivering CNG and gasoline to the cylinder using separate injectors allows the quantities of CNG and gasoline to vary in response to engine operating conditions, which allows the fuel mixture to be adjusted to satisfy engine power and emissions criteria.

  • Patent number: 7740648
Abstract: A bone plate(s) of complex form is provided, particularly suited to tibial plateau-leveling osteotomy and a distal femoral osteotomy. The bone plate has a main longitudinal axis, a bone-contacting bottom side (not shown) and a top side with at least three sets of overlapping holes which communicate through the plate from the top to the bottom side. The sets of overlapping holes define threaded apertures having multifaceted surfaces. When applied to a bone, two sets of such overlapping holes are located so as to lie on opposite sides of an osteotomy site and on the tibial plate; a third is aligned at approximately 60 degrees with the longitudinal axis. The configuration of this complex bone plate vary, depending on the physiology of the patient. An object of the invention is to provide an orthopedic surgeon greater flexibility of choice in that a threaded peg providing secure fixing can be positioned at any interval along the bone plate, including at its extreme ends or on its elbow.

  • Publication number: 20090159341
Abstract: An earth boring drill bit comprising cones, each cone having rows of inserts, where the inserts are in the form of a pyramid with four sides. The insert includes ridges at the juncture of each adjacent side. The ridges extend to the top of the insert and meet at a crest. Oppositely disposed ridges on the insert lie substantially in the same plane, thereby forming two planes intersecting on the crest. The two planes are substantially perpendicular. The inserts are arranged on the cone such that one plane is substantially parallel with the insert row, and the other is substantially parallel with the cone axis.
