Abstract: A motion planning system includes: a processor; and memory to store instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: identify a reference path between a departure point and a destination point in an environment including one or more obstacles; generate decomposition segments of a space surrounding the reference path, the decomposition segments including a first free-space segment and a second free-space segment that are devoid of the obstacles; generating a first path segment relative to the reference path for traversing the first free-space segment, and a second path segment relative to the reference path for traversing the second free-space segment; and connecting the first and second path segments to each other to generate a navigational path to traverse the environment.

Abstract: A latex emulsion may include an aqueous carrier liquid and a latex copolymer formed from reactants comprising butyl methacrylate, wherein the reactants include at least 20 wt. % butyl methacrylate, based on the total weight of ethylenically unsaturated monomers used to make the latex copolymer. A coating formed from the latex emulsion exhibits a wet adhesion to a thermoplastic polyolefin roofing membrane of greater than about 1 pound per linear inch when tested using fabric embedded peel adhesion testing per ASTM C794. The latex emulsion may be used as part of an aqueous coating composition or a roofing system including a polymeric roofing membrane.

Abstract: An approach is disclosed that enforces a privacy legal framework filesystem along with an operating system (OS) to enforce the privacy legal framework. An access of a datum in a selected file in the filesystem includes accessing a metadata associated with the selected file where the metadata includes a privacy state and an owner consent-based access policy. The consent-based access policy is enforced by the OS.

Abstract: An approach is disclosed for moving personal and sensitive data from a source filesystem to a destination filesystem while enforcing a source privacy legal framework. A request to copy information from a file residing in the source filesystem enabled to enforce the privacy and control legal framework to a destination filesystem is received. Metadata associated with the file and the request is analyzed to determine a copying policy. The copying policy is applied to the contents of the file to ensure compliance with the privacy and control legal framework of the source filesystem.

Abstract: A personal care device comprises at least one treatment application unit configured to apply a treatment to user; a human-machine interface (HMI) comprising a speaker; and a personal care unit operably coupled to the HMI and to the at least one treatment application unit. The personal care unit includes circuitry for presenting voice cues via the HMI in a computer-guided care routine to guide user operation of the personal care device, and circuitry for controlling the at least one treatment application unit. In an embodiment, the circuitry for presenting voice cues via the HMI includes circuitry for generating a random selection from a set of voice cues stored in memory and/or computational circuitry including one or more processors operably connected to a speaker and configured to enable one or voice cues via the HMI that sequence in concert with a computer-guided care routine stored in memory.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a shrink film comprising a polyester composition comprising: (1) at least one polyester which comprises: (a) a dicarboxylic acid component comprising: (i) about 70 to about 100 mole % of terephthalic acid residues; (ii) about 0 to about 30 mole % of aromatic and/or aliphatic dicarboxylic acid residues having up to 20 carbon atoms; and (b) a diol component comprising: (i) about 0.01 to about 26 mole % neopentyl glycol residues; (ii) about less than 10 mole % 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol residues; (iii) about 50 to 90 mole % ethylene glycol residues; and (iv) about 2 to 15 mole % total diethylene glycol residues in the final polyester composition; wherein the total mole % of the dicarboxylic acid component is 100 mole %, and wherein the total mole % of the diol component is 100 mole %.

Abstract: A floss stick includes a horizontal stick body, first and second extension arms, at least one horizontal floss, and at least one inclined floss. The first and second extension arms extend transversely from the stick body and are spaced apart from each other. The horizontal and inclined flosses are connected between the first and second extension arms and are adapted for removing dental plaque from teeth. The inclined floss is inclined relative to the horizontal floss, and cooperates with the horizontal floss to define a gap therebetween, in which the dental plaque removed is confined by capillary action.

Abstract: A system and method of detecting gas leakage along an underground pipeline system accurately determines the presence of a gas leak while minimizing cost and preserving energy. The system includes at least one underground pipeline with a plurality of stack vents, a plurality of sensor units, and at least one remote server. Each sensor unit is mounted within a stack vent. The method begins by tracking a current time with each sensor unit. A gas-concentration reading with at least one specific unit is captured and then communicated along with a sensor location and a sensor identification to the remote server and recorded with the remote server. The tracking, capturing, and communicating of the gas-concentration reading is repeated so that actual gas-concentration data is compiled and compared to a baseline gas-concentration data or a defined gas-concentration threshold. A leak notification for a gas leak is then sent with the remote server.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to control of consumption of content in an appliance. The content can include linear programming and non-linear assets. Such control can permit (i) changing a channel in the appliance (e.g., a CPE without upstream functionality) and thus selecting a linear-programming asset, a non-linear asset, and so forth, and (ii) controlling consumption of such assets. In one aspect, a device with upstream network connectivity can control the consumption of media in the appliance. The device can leverage data management and control functionality of a service provider network to acquire information related to assets available for consumption and to transmit asset requests to the service provider network, which can transmit content and signaling to the appliance in accordance at least in part with the asset request, thus controlling media consumption in the appliance.

Abstract: An example sheet product dispenser is configured to dispense from a sheet product roll that includes a plurality of predetermined portions that are designed for providing a toilet seat cover. A line of perforations separates consecutive portions. A motor operates to drive the drive roller to cause movement of the sheet product along a dispensing pathway to position a leading predetermined portion of the sheet product into a dispensing position such that the trailing edge of the leading predetermined portion is positioned within the housing and the leading edge of the leading predetermined portion is positioned outside of the dispensing chute to enable removal of the leading predetermined portion. Staged dispensing is utilized to help maintain hygiene, while still quickly providing the dispense. Perforation tear assist features are provided to aid in proper separation of the line of perforations, such as to help maintain integrity of the dispensed portion.

The system also includes a side wall coupled to an inner surface of the coil contacting base. The side wall is configured to block circumferential movement of a coil restraint. The system also includes a passage disposed between the coil contacting base and the side wall. The coil restraint is configured to be disposed in the passage.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for quantitatively measuring strain in an optical fiber. An optical source comprising an optical beam generator and a pulse generator receives instructions from a controller and generates a pulsed optical beam in response to those instructions. The pulsed optical beam is directed into an optical fiber to generate a reflected beam from scattering centers within the optical fiber. A detector records a plurality of frames of data generated by the reflected beam, and the controller tracks an evolution of a speckle pattern carried by the reflected beam from the plurality of frames and calculates a strain induced in a section of the optical fiber from the evolution of the speckle pattern.

Abstract: A messaging server system receives a message creation input from a first client device that is associated with a first user registered with the messaging server system. The messaging server system determines, based on an entity graph representing connections between a plurality of users registered with the messaging server system, that the first user is within a threshold degree of connection with a second that initiated a group story in relation to a specified event. The messaging server system determines, based on location data received from the first client device, that the first client device was located within a geo-fence surrounding a geographic location of the specified event during a predetermined event window, the geo-fence and event window having been designated by the second user, and causes the first client device to present a user interface element, that enables the first user to submit content to the group story.

Abstract: A method for providing a user agent (UA) with service identification data. The method includes an application server (AS) transmitting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) data. The SIP data comprises an identifier of the AS and a service identifier for at least one service supported by the AS. The method further includes the UA receiving the SIP data.

Abstract: An approach is disclosed that enforces restrictions to data in a filesystem based on metadata for a file including a name for an attribute, a type, and a location in the file for the type. The restrictions for file access may be placed directly into a file handler, which is driven by the file structure metadata which identifies types of information, where in the file each type of information is located, and consent information which specifies what type of information is accessible to a requestor retrieving data for a specific purpose.

Abstract: Some embodiments provided herein include methods and compositions for the detection of target ligands on an array. In some embodiments, a capture probe specifically binds to a target ligand from a sample, the location of a bead comprising the capture probe in an array is determined, and the bead is decoded to identify the capture probe and the sample. In some embodiments, a barcode is indicative of a capture probe attached to a bead; and an index is indicative of a subpopulation of beads. Some embodiments relate to sequencing target polynucleotides from several different nucleic acids samples on a bead array.
