Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques and mechanisms for providing a connected multi-screen interface. According to various embodiments, a system may include a media presentation server. The media presentation server may include a processor and memory. The media presentation server may be operable to transmit information for generating a media presentation interface at a plurality of media presentation devices. The media presentation interface may be operable to navigate and display media content. The system may also include a first and a second media presentation device. Each media presentation device may include a processor, memory, and a display screen. Each media presentation device may be operable to generate the media presentation interface based on the information received from the media presentation interface server. The second media presentation device may be operable to update the media presentation interface based on an instruction received from the first media presentation device.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for character-based and image-based media content search and discovery. Character images or entity images are mapped to corresponding media content. Selection of an image or a portion of an image may trigger or search for corresponding media content or begin playback of relevant media content. Character images or entity images need not correspond to a primary program character or object but may correspond to minor characters or tangential entities depicted periodically on particular programs.

Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms are described herein for presenting a connected multi-screen digital program guide. According to various embodiments, a personalized content guide may be transmitted to a first client machine. The first client machine may be associated with a content management account. The personalized content guide may include a plurality of media content channels created based on media content viewing history information associated with the content management account. Each of the media content channels including a respective plurality of media content items available for presentation in association with the content management account. A message indicating a selection of one of the media content items may be received from the first client machine. An instruction for presenting the selected media content item may be transmitted to the second client machine.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques and mechanisms for connected multi-screen video management. According to various embodiments, content management information may be received from a remote server. The received content management information may be stored on a storage medium. The received content management information may be processed to provide a content management interface. The content management interface may include a plurality of media content categories. Each of the media content categories may include a plurality of media content items available for presentation at the computing device. Each of the media content items may be retrievable from a respective media content source. At least two of the media content items may be retrievable from different media content sources. The content management interface may be displayed on a display screen.

Abstract: Advertisements are often presented in the context of a media content viewing experience. Advertisement presentation may be intrusive or subtle. In many instances, users may be interested in particular advertisements but may not want to disrupt a media content viewing experience by launching an advertisement window, opening an advertisement application, or otherwise being redirected to another piece of content. Consequently, mechanisms are provided to allow a user to identify advertisements or save advertisement interests for presentation at a later time. Saved advertisement interests can be used to inform future advertisement and/or content suggestions, and the user can be presented with selected advertisements within an application or through external mechanisms.

Abstract: Device capabilities, media rights, and content are managed using a convergence platform to allow seamless consumption of content across disparate devices. Media content can be paused on one device having a particular set of capabilities and rights and resumed on a different device having another set of capabilities and rights. A user can play media on a mobile device, continue playing the media on a desktop computer, and subsequently move to a large screen television and capabilities and rights are automatically identified to seamlessly provide the most appropriate authorized content. Personalized media content information can be provided based on maintained information for user playback stoppage events and the user can resume playback of any number of media streams.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for allowing a user to dynamically manage rich media content in an efficient and effective manner. Tiles including media content, personalized video selections, content pack upgrades, and promotions for featured content are presented to a user. Each tile may include calls to view, purchase, discuss, rate, review, or read about associated content. Tiles may be presented as still images, logos, text, or live video. Multiple tiles may be manipulated using keyboard, mouse, touchpad, and/or touchscreen movements, motions, and gestures. In particular examples, an overlay provided on top of a tile mechanism provides a user with additional navigation and management options.

Abstract: The concepts herein address a communication network for managing user identifiers of users accessing data applications on at least two different networks each accessible through a service provider, and providing a seamless sign on when accessing a data application from a mobile station. A wireless communication network links a mobile station with a data application on the wireless network, and a user accessing the data application from the mobile station is identified by a user identifier entered by the user. A communication network other than a wireless communication network links a user interface other than a mobile station with a data application on the other communication network, and the user accessing the data application from the user interface is identified by the user identifier entered by the user. A computer system is in communication with data applications of the wireless communication network and with the other communication network.

Abstract: Storing data on a data processing system is done upon generation of a data file by displaying a user interface allowing user selection of storage criteria for the data file. Responsive to user selection of storage criteria for a file determining a physical format type for the file from a plurality of available physical format types. Then the file is stored on a direct access storage device as at least a first record conforming with the determined physical format type.
