  • Patent number: 4735311
Abstract: A needle shield comprising an elongated tubular housing having a central bore, means at one end for detachably mounting the shield to the hub of a syringe assembly, and means defining an elongated generally cylindrical chamber in the end of the housing opposite the mounting means. An inner end communicates with the bore and an insert made of resilient impermeable pierceable material is snugly supported in the chamber. The chamber is of a diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the insert and includes a tapered wall portion at the inner end and has a section of smaller diameter than the insert to provide a tight generally hermetic sealing relation therewith. The wall of the chamber opposite the inner end is deformable to permit ease of assembly and deformation after insertion of the plug to firmly seat the plug in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4646936
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a series of different pills over a prescribed period. In all embodiments, the pill package disposed in the dispenser is locked in place and cannot be removed therefrom. In one embodiment, the daily indicator employed for designating the period the particular pills are to be taken can be preset to start the regimen on any day selected by the user. Also, after the first pill has been taken and the tray containing the pill package has been moved to dispense a second pill the indicator cannot be repositioned.

  • Patent number: 4448318
Abstract: A closure for containers having a discharge opening and a finish with means for supporting the closure over the discharge opening comprising a cap portion of generally cup-like form having a top and a depending skirt with means on the interior peripheral surface thereof cooperating with means on the container finish for applying and removing the cap portion; a tamper-evident ring or band connected to the lower terminal edge of said skirt by at least a pair of fracturable bridge means and at least one lug cooperatively associated with at least one cam element below the container finish operable in one direction of movement of the cap portion relative to the container to effect fracturing of the bridge means to separate the tamper-evident ring from the cap portion, said bridge means being oriented in a predetermined manner relative to one another to effect sequential breaking in a given pattern upon relative movement of said cap portion and ring in said one direction.

  • Patent number: 4071156
Abstract: A closure for a container having a neck with an access opening therein and means defining a locking rib on the outer surface of the neck interrupted at least at two circumferentially spaced locations to define gaps therein or predetermined differing arcuate dimensions, said closure including a cap having a top, a skirt depending from the outer edge of the top and at least a pair of primary locking lugs projecting radially inwardly from the skirt which in all positions, except one, engage under said locking rib to secure the cap in place, said primary lugs being of an arcuate span and circumferential spacing to register with said gaps in said one position and at least one auxiliary releasable locking lug of a shallower radial projection than said primary lugs engaging under said bead when said cap is in said one position, said auxiliary lug operable to snap over said bead in said one position when said cap is tilted relative to the neck of the container.
