    Abstract: A sliding bearing comprises two opposite bearing surfaces (3, 4) which enclose a gap (6) containing a lubricant film (5), the bearing surfaces (3, 4) being moveable with respect to each other in a generally parallel fashion, at least one of the surfaces (4) being provided with at least one cavity (10), the cavity having a depth (h3) which is at least equal to the lubricant film thickness. One of the length (Bp) and width (Lp) dimension of the surface area of the cavity (10) amounts to at least 100 ?m.
