  • Patent number: 11957451
Abstract: Breath sensor calibration methods and apparatus are described herein where a breath sensor device may generally comprise a sampling unit having a housing configured to receive a sample breath from a user and a sensor positioned within the housing. A processor in electrical communication with the sensor may be configured to determine a dissipation time when the sensor is exposed to a near-constant concentration level of CO detected from the breath sample down to an ambient level of CO detected. The processor may also be configured to calculate a time constant based on the dissipation time and a reduction from the near-constant concentration level to the ambient level. Furthermore, the processor may also be configured to apply the time constant to a transient response of the sensor to account for drift in calibrating the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20210196147
Abstract: Use of co values in smoking cessation are described where an apparatus may be configured to encourage smoking cessation in a user. The apparatus may include a sampling unit which receives a sample breath and determines a level of exhaled carbon monoxide from the sample breath. The sampling unit may be programmed to initiate a first timer for tracking a cumulative time upon a determination that the level of exhaled carbon monoxide is below a predetermined threshold. The sampling unit may also be programmed to initiate a second timer for tracking a countdown time upon a determination that the level of exhaled carbon monoxide is above the predetermined threshold, wherein the countdown time corresponds to a second length of time until the carbon monoxide level within the body of the user is expected to dissipate below the predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20210196148
Abstract: Breath sensor measurement methods and apparatus are described. One variation may generally comprise a sampling unit having a breath sampling port, at least one pressure sensor located within the sampling unit and in communication with the breath sampling port, and a processor in communication with the at least one pressure sensor. The processor may be configured to prompt a user with instructions to exhale a sample breath for a first predetermined period of time into the breath sampling port and to inhale for a second predetermined period of time through the breath sampling port. The processor may be configured to measure a pressure change via the pressure sensor over the first and second predetermined periods of time such that the processor determines a total volume of air corresponding to lung capacity of the user based on the pressure change over the first and second predetermined periods of time.
