  • Patent number: 6599585
Abstract: A UV curing system includes a light source, which produces UV light and non-useful light (heat energy), a shade member having a lamp-side surface that reflects light and provides thermal insulation to the target substance, and a housing having an internal reflecting surface. The shade member is situated between the light source and the target substance so that all, or most, light from the light source does not directly strike the target substance. The housing is situated on the opposite side of the light source from the barrier and partially encloses the light source.

  • Patent number: 5819649
Abstract: A system for printing an image onto a target area of a moving substrate with an actuatable print head having an actuation delay time, the substrate movable at a variable speed to a print position relative to the print head. The system includes a trigger signal generator for generating a trigger signal when the target area of the substrate is a specified distance from the print position so selected that a time required to move the target area of the substrate the specified distance to the print position is not less than the actuation delay time of the print head. Encoder signals based on movement of the substrate decrement a reference count during a delay time to generate a delay count, wherein the delay time corresponds to the actuation delay time of the print head. The encoder signals decrement the delay count in response to the generation of a trigger signal, wherein a print signal is generated when the delay count is decremented to zero.

  • Patent number: 4795391
Abstract: A method of forming aligned apertures in the electrode plates of an electron gun which includes a plurality of electrode plates at least one of which is preapertured and at least another is unapertured. A boring tool, such as an electric-discharge machine, is sized to fit snugly within the aperture in the preapertured electrode plate. The boring tool is inserted through the aperture in the preapertured electrode plate whereby the plate aligns the tool in a position of concentricity. The tool is activated to form a precision concentric aperture in the unapertured electrode plate.

  • Patent number: 4704565
Abstract: An electron gun system according to the invention comprises means including cathode means for developing an electron beam. Main focus lens means, which has a plurality of electrode means situated on a common axis, provide for receiving the electron beam and forming a focused electron beam spot at the screen of the tube. Means are provided for developing and applying to the electrode means potentials effective to form one or more focusing field components between the electrode means. The lens means is so structured and arranged as to cause to be formed between adjacent electrode means at least one focusing field component which is asymmetrical and effective to significantly divert a passed beam from a straight-line path through a predetermined angle. A first of the plurality of electrode means comprises focus electrode means adapted to receive focus voltages for establishing the focal distance of the beams.
