  • Patent number: 11520960
Abstract: Methods, machine readable media and systems for performing side channel analysis are described. In one embodiment, a method, performed on a data processing system, can receive input data that contains an RTL representation of a design of a circuit and then determine, from the input data, a set of registers that store security related data during operation of the circuit, wherein the set of registers are a subset of all of the registers in the design. The method then determines, in a simulation of power consumption of the set of registers in the RTL representation, security metrics that indicate a level of potential leakage of security related data such as secret or private cryptographic keys.

  • Patent number: 6118632
Abstract: A magnetic disk with nonmagnetic information encoded under, in or above the magnetic layer of the disk is described along with the disk drive using the magnetic disks. The information may be stored as a series of laser-written marks (e.g., bumps, oxidized spots or spots with altered reflectivity) upon the surface(s) of each disk of the disk stack. The set of marks may be a series of laser bumps which serve a dual purpose as a landing zone or contact start/stop (CSS) zone for the slider and as encoded identifying information. During the manufacturing process for disk drives containing the disks, each disk's identifier can be read using outboard equipment such as an HRF tester or by means contained in the drive itself. Each disk identifier can then be stored magnetically in a special region of the hard disk reserved for use by the drive and/or within the flash memory of the hard drive. The drive can then communicate the identifier(s) to a host computer using the conventional communication hardware and firmware.

  • Patent number: 5737344
Abstract: Digital data is stored on a DASD by generating a parity block for a specified block of data items and storing the parity block at a selected location on the DASD. The parity block includes a parity computation calculated by applying a parity routine to the corresponding data. The parity block also includes a parity code that indicates either (1) the size of the corresponding data block, or (2) the number of data items contributing to the parity computation. The parity block may be stored adjacent to the corresponding data, or at an independent location. Among other things, the invention provides significantly increased robustness against data loss, and improved flexibility and efficiency in storing data.

  • Patent number: 4201293
Abstract: A package for protection and display of an object such as a clock which includes a base having narrow pedestals extending upwardly along the lateral edges, pedestals having respective overhanging portions extending horizontally inward. The spacing between the pedestals is substantially the same as the lateral dimension of the object and the inside height of the overhanging portions is substantially the same as the height of the object. Embossments are provided on the base presenting a pair of retaining edges spaced inwardly with respect to the front and back edges of the base, the spacing between the embossments being substantially the same as the depth dimension of the object, the base pedestals and embossments being formed of resilient foamed plastic so that the object is held captive and cradled against movement in any direction with respect to the base. The base is enclosed by an inverted cup-shaped shell of transparent plastic having a lower edge snugly conforming to the profile of the base.

  • Patent number: 4025206
Abstract: A brush caddy made up of four pieces of wire welded together. The longest piece termed a "spine" has a hook at the top from which a paint brush may be hung. Centrally a cross piece is welded to the spine to form a pair of arms ending in claws which grip the rim of a paint can. The spine is tilted away from the can so that the brush is more easily grasped and more easily placed on the hook. A third piece of wire forms a "yoke" which cooperates with the hook and the spine to support the brush in the desired slanting position with the dripping edge over the mouth of the can. The fourth piece of wire is welded across the spine at its base to embrace the can at that end. An elastic member fits over the ends of this fourth piece of wire and around the can, for added stability.
