  • Publication number: 20050261561
Abstract: A system and method are provided for determining intravenous blood levels of a target compound contained in a blood vessel of a patient. The method includes the operation of detecting concentrations of the target compound within a patient's blood using a sensor device configured to optically test blood at a location within the blood vessel. Another operation is calculating a measured amount of a therapeutic compound to administer into the patient's bloodstream based on the concentrations of the target compound in the blood. The measured amount of therapeutic compound may then be pumped through the catheter into the patient's blood.

  • Publication number: 20050213994
Abstract: A receiver optical subassembly (ROSA) includes a photodetector array and a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) array. In each data channel, the photodetector is wire bonded to a corresponding input pad of the TIA array. A ground pad is disposed between adjacent input pads and connected to a ground plane via an isolated bonding strip on the photodetector array in order to alleviate crosstalk between the channels. The output data channels of the TIA are tightly spaced at the output pads of the TIA and are fanned out on the ceramic to increase the spacing of the data channels as they extend from the TIA. The ROSA includes the use of embedded capacitance to reduce crosstalk and noise by decoupling reference planes formed within the multilayer ceramic substrate. Input and output ground planes of the TIA are separated in the vicinity of the TIA and coupled on a ceramic layer spaced farther from the TIA, to alleviate crosstalk.

  • Patent number: 6736553
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling light from an array of optoelectronic devices to a corresponding array of fibers contained in a fiber optic ferrule is disclosed. The fibers may be single-mode or multi-mode optical fibers. The method includes fixing the fiber optic ferrule to the optical subassembly (OSA) base upon which the array of optoelectronic devices will be affixed, aligning the array of optoelectronic devices to the corresponding array of fibers, then securing the array of optoelectronic devices to the OSA base. In one embodiment, the module includes an optical subassembly module housing a linear array of 1300 nm VCSELs or photodetectors, spaced apart at a 250 micron pitch to correspond to the spacing of optical fibers in a conventional MT ferrule. The array of optoelectronic devices is mounted on a substrate assembly that includes a weldable surface and one or more photodetectors for automatic power control.
