Publication number: 20200152017Abstract: Methods facilitate tournaments in which tournament players play their tournament rounds at different times rather than concurrently as in a standard tournament. These methods may include monitoring for a player who is qualified tournament play. This monitoring is conducted by a tournament controller and may involve determining if one or more qualifying parameter values associated with a communication from a gaming machine satisfy a qualifying parameter definition which may be set by a system operator via the tournament controller. Where a tournament-qualified player is detected at a gaming machine, that gaming machine is enabled for play of a tournament game. The tournament game may then be conducted through the gaming machine to produce a tournament score for the player. This score is stored in memory associated with the tournament controller along with scores similarly produced for other qualified players.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2020Publication date: May 14, 2020Applicant: Everi Games, Inc.Inventors: John Carpenter, Brian Watkins, Allison Pope, Loren Jacobs, Keith Riggs

Publication number: 20180089954Abstract: A method is directed in particular to a tournament gaming system which defines a number of first level rounds at a first level of a tournament and second level rounds at a second level of the tournament. The tournament system further defines criteria for player advancement from the first level rounds to the second level rounds. The method includes conducting the first level rounds among a number of tournament players each participating at a respective gaming machine. The conduct of the first level rounds identifies a set of non-advancing tournament players and identifies advancing tournament players as well. After identifying the non-advancing tournament players, the method includes making a selection of one or more of the non-advancing tournament players. These selected non-advancing tournament players are added to a set of advancing tournament players for advancement to the second level rounds of the tournament.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2017Publication date: March 29, 2018Applicant: Everi Games, Inc.Inventors: John Carpenter, Brian Watkins, Allison Pope, Loren Jacobs, Keith Riggs

Publication number: 20130281171Abstract: Provided is a wager-per-play skill game in which the player's skill is used in selecting one of several random prize distributions or prize pools from which the player's award will be randomly selected. Wagers are preferably entered automatically for each skilled interaction the player makes in the game play area, allowing for continuous play in which the game state persists between wagers. In one version, there is no possibility of complete failure of the skill game, instead every move of the player is given an immediate skill rating or value. The immediate skill rating is used to select an associated prize distribution or prize pool from among multiple distributions or pools, which is then applied to randomly select a prize for the player's move.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2012Publication date: October 24, 2013Applicant: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventors: William David Ramsour, Brian Watkins, Allison Pope, Clint Owen
