  • Publication number: 20160041293
Abstract: A method for magnetic ranging includes rotating a drilling tool in a drilling well in sensory range of an AC ranging signal emanating from a target well. The drilling tool includes a magnetic field sensor rotatably coupled thereto. The magnetic field sensor obtains a plurality of magnetic field measurements while rotating. The magnetic field measurements are mathematically back-rotated to obtain back-rotated magnetic field measurements which are in turn processed to obtain a measurement of the AC magnetic ranging signal emanating from the target well. The AC magnetic ranging signal is then processed to compute at least one of a distance and a direction from the drilling well to the target well.

  • Patent number: 7096976
Abstract: An integrated drilling and evaluation system includes a drill string having an interior portion and a drill bit, carried on a lower end, that includes ports for communicating fluid between the interior portion of the drill string and an uncased well bore. A packer, carried above the drill bit, is operable for sealingly closing a well annulus, A tester valve inserted in the drill string is operable for sealingly closing the drill string. The packer and tester valve are cooperatively operable for isolating a subsurface zone of interest. The system includes monitoring means inserted in the drill string for monitoring a parameter of well fluid from the subsurface zone. Once the subsurface zone is isolated, well fluid is communicated into the interior portion of the drill string through the ports of the drill bit, received by the monitoring means, and tested without removing the drill string form the well.

  • Publication number: 20030234120
Abstract: Integrated drilling and evaluation systems and methods for drilling, logging and testing wells are provided. The drilling and evaluation systems are basically comprised of a drill string, a drill bit carried on a lower end of the drill string for drilling a well bore, logging while drilling means included in the drill string for identifying subsurface zones or formations of interest, packer means carried on the drill string above the drill bit for sealing a zone or formation of interest below the packer means, a fluid testing means included in the drill string for controlling the flow of well fluid from the zone or formation of interest into the drill string, a function status monitor included in the drill string to evaluate the capacity of the various test instruments to function, and a function timer included in the drill string to automatically sequence the steps of various test procedures.

  • Patent number: 4014533
Abstract: An improved vehicle-mounted support for isolating delicate loads from shocks and other disturbances imparted to the vehicle floor during movement thereof over rough terrain is described. A plurality of adjustable pneumatic springs are disposed in each corner of a load-bearing stiff frame for interconnecting the frame to the carrier floor. A steel rope or other flexible strand extends between the spring-supported frame and the vehicle floor for limiting vertical displacement of the frame, while a separate pivotal connection mounts the spring-supported frame for oscillation with respect to the vehicle floor in a plane perpendicular to the plane of travel of the vehicle. Additional resilient support blocks maintain a desired minimum spacing between the bottom of the frame and the vehicle floor, and a plurality of adjustable resilient rods or standards may be preset on the frame independent of the springs to maintain a desired, initially set orientation of the frame.
