  • Patent number: 6787596
Abstract: A solvent-free polyurethane-polymer hybrid dispersion having a high solids content of polymer or formulation constituents is described, which is obtainable by a) the multistage preparation of a polyurethane base dispersion and b) by the subsequent preparation of a polyurethane-polymer hybrid dispersion. This polyurethane-polymer hybrid dispersion not only is distinguished by complete freedom from solvents and high solids contents in combination with low viscosity and a technically simple preparation process but also has excellent mechanical properties and, owing to the low hydrophilicity, high water resistance.

  • Publication number: 20030088045
Abstract: The use of aqueous isocyanate-free polyurethane dispersions with a solids content of ≧30 wt. % and a solvent content of ≦10 wt. % in formulations for crack sealing coating systems is disclosed. Said use may be in a) primer, floating screed, floor coatings, spray coatings and/or sealants, on, preferably, primed building surfaces, b) roof coatings or paints and c) sealing of open-cast or subterranean mines. According to the invention, the disclosed polyurethane dispersions are not just more environmentally-friendly and easier to use, but also give a partly improved product property to the corresponding crack sealing coating systems, such as, for example, mechanical properties (tensile strength, stretching under tension, tear elongation), UV resistance and colour stability.

  • Patent number: 4311563
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the isolation of chloroacetaldehyde which is obtained as a by-product during the synthesis of acetaldehyde from ethylene and air in an aqueous palladium/cupric chloride solution by the 2-stage process. The mixture to be worked-up to chloroacetaldehyde is taken from the acetaldehyde distillation column and transferred to a distillation and extraction system, where it is fractionally condensed. The chloroacetaldehyde-containing fraction is extracted with water and the aqueous extract is subjected to purification distillation.
