  • Publication number: 20200139593
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a foam material body, as well as to a foam material body. A pourable starting granulate of expanded particles of a thermoplastic material is provided, which is subjected to a non-melting heat treatment. As a result, an intermediate granulate is formed with a bulk density higher than that of the starting granulate. The foam material body is then formed by materially connecting the volume-reduced particles of the intermediate granulate by heating the intermediate granulate to a temperature greater than a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic material in the molding cavity of a molding tool and then solidifying the thermoplastic material by cooling. The foam material body exhibits an overall density between 80 kg/m3 and 600 kg/m3.

  • Patent number: 8765043
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a foam product (1), whereby a body (2) of expanded closed-cell foam, in particular expanded polystyrene particle foam, is subjected to a non-melting heat treatment at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the plastic used to form the foam, in particular polystyrene.

  • Publication number: 20140051777
Abstract: A method of producing a foam product subjects a body of expanded closed-cell foam, in particular expanded polystyrene particle foam, to a non-melting heat treatment at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the plastic used to form the foam, in particular polystyrene. The volume of the foam product is reduced by the heat treatment compared with the initial state prior to the heat treatment by a value from a range between a lower limit of 50% and an upper limit of 97%.
