  • Publication number: 20220341516
Abstract: Techniques for implementing and/or installing a system including pipe segment tubing and a swaged pipe fitting secured to the pipe segment tubing. The pipe segment tubing includes a carcass layer, an internal pressure sheath layer disposed around the carcass layer, a reinforcement layer disposed around the internal pressure sheath layer, and an outer sheath layer disposed around the reinforcement layer. The swaged pipe fitting includes a fitting body that defines a bore, an internal pressure sheath seal that seals the internal pressure sheath layer of the pipe segment tubing within the swaged pipe fitting, and a fitting jacket secured to the fitting body, in which the fitting jacket is conformally deformed around the pipe segment tubing to anchor the reinforcement layer of the pipe segment tubing in the swaged pipe fitting.

  • Patent number: 11428350
Abstract: Techniques for implementing a system that includes pipe segment tubing and a pipe fitting to be secured to the pipe segment tubing. The pipe segment tubing includes a reinforcement strip implemented between an internal pressure sheath layer and an outer sheath of the pipe segment tubing. The pipe fitting includes an inner fitting body to be inserted between the internal pressure sheath layer and the reinforcement strip of the pipe segment tubing. Additionally, the pipe fitting includes an outer fitting body to be disposed circumferentially around the inner fitting body to define a potting cavity between an inner surface of the outer fitting body and an outer surface of the inner fitting body, in which a hole is formed through the reinforcement strip of the pipe segment tubing before the reinforcement strip is anchored in the potting cavity via cured potting material.

  • Publication number: 20220146026
Abstract: Techniques for implementing a pipeline system including a pipe segment and a potted pipe fitting. The pipe segment includes tubing having an internal pressure sheath layer, a reinforcement strip, and an outer sheath layer. The potted pipe fitting includes an outer fitting body disposed around a portion of the reinforcement strip, an inner fitting body disposed between the portion of the reinforcement strip and the internal pressure sheath layer, in which the inner fitting body directly abuts the internal pressure sheath layer at least up to a point where the reinforcement strip begins to flare away from the internal pressure sheath layer and a potting cavity of the potted pipe fitting is defined at least between an inner surface of the outer fitting body and an outer surface of the inner fitting body, and cured potting material implemented around the portion of the reinforcement strip in the potting cavity.

  • Publication number: 20140312612
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an end fitting and method to install the end fitting to a flexible pipe. The method includes disposing a shell mandrel at a free end of the flexible pipe external to a jacket of the flexible pipe and performing a cutback of layers of the flexible pipe to expose an internal pressure sheath of the flexible pipe. An armor layer of the flexible pipe is radially outward from an axial direction of the flexible pipe. At least one internal pressure containment transition component and at least one internal pressure sheath seal are installed on the exposed free end of the flexible pipe. The end fitting is assembled such that the at least one internal pressure containment transition component and at least one seal are assembled with non-radial fasteners having a backward facing direction.
