  • Publication number: 20230062725
Abstract: A system and method for protecting an electric power distribution system integrated with a hybrid machine-learning model includes a plurality of field protection systems, a plurality of electrical switching circuits, and a local area network. Data from each of the plurality of field protection systems that is connected to the electrical switching circuits that are configured for protecting the electric power distribution system, is transmitted to the cloud. The received data is processed to identify a change in patterns and compute an error related to the HMLM in comparison with the processed data. The HMLM that is implemented in the plurality of FPS is calibrated to minimize the error and send updates to develop a new decision making firmware thereby to control actuation of the plurality of the electrical switching circuits.

  • Publication number: 20220140597
Abstract: A system and method for nuisance-trip decision management in an electric power system using data analytics comprising, a protection system, PS, and at least one electrical protection circuit, EPC. The PS comprising, a plurality of sensors configured to measure data; a memory configured to store an updated data of nuisance-trip events and a plurality of nuisance-trip parameters detected or generated on the electric power system over a period; a processor configured to perform hybrid machine learning (HML) based on the measured data from the plurality of sensors for a nuisance-trip condition and communicate with a neighboring PS; a protection microcontroller configured to allow or avoid tripping at least one electronic tripping circuit provided in the at least one EPC by communicating with the processor and the neighboring PS.

  • Patent number: 10243345
Abstract: A circuit breaker is described herein. In one aspect, the circuit breaker includes a communication module, a non-transitory memory device, and a memory controller. The communication module is configured to receive protection settings and breaker information from a trip unit coupled to the communication module. The protection settings and the breaker information are received upon powering-on the trip unit. The non-transitory memory device is configured to store the protection settings and the breaker information associated with the circuit breaker. The memory controller is configured to cause the protection settings and the breaker information received to be written to the non-transitory memory device.

  • Patent number: 9304168
Abstract: An electronic trip device is described that includes a test current generator and a leakage current detection circuit. The test current generator is coupled to a conductor and configured to provide a test current having a magnitude to the conductor in response to a selection to test the electronic trip device. The conductor is a line conductor or a neutral conductor. The leakage current detection circuit is configured to detect a current difference between the neutral conductor and the line conductor. The leakage current detection circuit is configured to provide, in response to the selection to test the electronic trip device, a tripless error indication if the detected current difference is less than a first threshold value.
