Third party applications using API function calls to access an online commerce site are restricted to specific services by an access rule. An access rule defines which API server on the online commerce site a specific third party application may access when using a specific API function call. In this way, the operator of the online commerce site may prioritize server access per service level agreements based on a specific third party application and API function call.

Abstract: A device, method, system and computer readable medium allows for a fast recovery of a communication connection in response to a newly assigned Wide Area Network (“WAN”) Internet protocol (“IP”) source address. In an embodiment of the present invention, a device provides communication between a WAN and a short distance wireless network. The device comprises a memory to store a first and a second WAN address for the device and a router software component. The processor and router software component transfers a first plurality of packets between the device and the wide area network using the first wide area network address. The processor and router software component discontinues the transfer of the first plurality of packets responsive to receiving the second wide area network address and transfers a second plurality of packets between the device and the wide area network using the second wide area network address.

Abstract: A communications system and method, which may be used, for example, within a conferencing communication system, is provided. A plurality of communicators may transmit, via a network, audio streams bound from any other communicator. A server receives from the plurality of communicators a plurality of incoming streams and for each communicator transmits any mixed combination of the incoming streams. The system also may control any of the mixers to independently control a volume level of any of the incoming streams being mixed at any of the mixers to create the required mixed combination of the incoming streams. Various conference call features may be effected using such mix capacities.

Abstract: A communications system, which can be used within a conferencing communication system, is provided. The communications system includes at least one communications network, a plurality of communicators connectable to the at least one communications network, each of the communicators being operative to transmit, via the network, audio streams bound from any of the plurality of communicators, a plurality of mixers. Each of the mixer output associated with one of the communicators is operative to receive from the plurality of communicators a plurality of incoming streams bound from the communicators to the mixer and transmit any mixed combination of the incoming streams to the communicator associated with the mixer. The system also includes means for controlling any of the mixers to independently control a volume level of any of the incoming streams being mixed at any of the mixers to create the required mixed combination of the incoming streams.

Abstract: A teleconference facilitation system and method may allow a user to pre-register a group or “team.” When the user contacts a server by, for example, a pre-arranged telephone number, the server attempts to initiate a teleconference among the user and the team members. The user may pre-schedule an automatically initiated conference call.

Abstract: A system for secure data storage, exchange and/or sharing through a protected central storage facility, containing at least one “network vault” to which access is controlled through a single data access channel. The network vault is similar to a physical safe, in that substantially any type of information can be stored in the network vault, and in that the user need only place the information inside the network vault for the information to be secured. Thus, the system of the present invention combines the flexibility of data storage and retrieval through a network, with the security of controlled access for data storage and retrieval at a fixed physical location. The restriction of data access through a single data access channel greatly simplifies the task of protecting access to the data, since only this single channel must be monitored for unauthorized access, rather than monitoring many such channels (or interfaces).

Abstract: A facsimile gateway provides fax transmission over a packetized network. To accommodate packet delay in the network, an alternate protocol source provides the appropriate notifications to the originating fax machine. In one embodiment, the gateway is constructed using conventional class II or 2.0 fax/modems and voice processing boards. The fax board provides most of the fax gateway operations. As needed, the voice board is switched into the call to provide notifications to prevent a time-out in the originating fax machine.

Abstract: The present invention is an audio transceiver (having an audio receiver and a transmitter) which, on the receiving side, adaptively controls the amount of audio data in the buffer of a PC audio device, such that the audio device always has something to play. On the transmission side, the audio transmitter provides at least sequence numbers to the audio packets to be sent. The audio receiver is concerned only with the state of the buffer of the audio device. Therefore, the audio transmitter does not have to be synchronized with the audio receiver.

Abstract: A method and a system for distributing a multi-media presentation in a computer network is provided. The method includes the steps of feeding at least one site of said computer network with a stream of data of the presentation and forming, in each site a plurality of data files, each data file including a segment of said multi-media presentation. The method further includes distributing the data files to at least one display and displaying the distributed data files.
