  • Publication number: 20180187498
Abstract: An early kick detection system including a kick detection computing device coupled to at least one sensor associated with a drilling system of a well. The kick detection computing device is configured to receive measurement data from the at least one sensor. The measurement data includes one or more kick indicators used to identify a well kick. The kick detection computing device generate an estimated value for each of the one or more kick indicators during simulated normal drilling conditions and simulated kick conditions. The kick detection computing device determines a deviation value and generates a signal based on the deviation value. The signal activates a green status, an amber warning, or a red alarm to indicate a kick detection status of the drilling system.

  • Patent number: 9045251
Abstract: A container is formed from a one-piece blank including a bottom panel, first and second opposed side walls, and first and second end walls. A top lid panel is foldably attached to the first side wall and a bottom lid panel is foldably attached to the second side wall. A plurality of reinforcing locking tabs is formed in the respective top and bottom lid panels. Each of the respective plurality of reinforcing locking tabs is sandwiched between their respective inner panel and middle panels so as to prevent the side walls from being distorted upon outward pressure applied to these side walls when the container is unreasonably over-packed during shipping and transportation.

  • Patent number: 6903138
Abstract: A process for preparing a bimodal emulsion of viscous hydrocarbon in water includes providing a stream of water at ambient temperature; providing a liquid additive that tends to gel when mixed with water at temperatures less than a gelling temperature TG; heating the stream to provide a heated stream at a temperature TC which is greater than ambient temperature and less than the gelling temperature TG; feeding the heated stream to a mixer having a mixer inlet so as to impart energy to the heated stream; adding the liquid additive to the heated stream downstream of the mixer inlet, whereby the liquid additive mixes with the stream and the energy inhibits gelling of the liquid additive to provide a substantially homogeneous solution of additive in water. The solution is then divided and used to make two different droplet sized emulsions which are mixed to form the bimodal emulsion.
