Patent number: 11238394Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains answers by a candidate to assessments related to qualifications for one or more opportunities. Next, the system applies a machine learning model to the answers and additional qualifications for an additional opportunity to produce a match score between the candidate and the additional opportunity. The system then compares the match score to a threshold to determine a recommendation related to applying to the additional opportunity by the candidate. Finally, the system outputs the recommendation in association with the additional opportunity.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: February 1, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Christian V. Mathiesen, Emrecan Dogan, Alp Artar, Mustafa Emre Kazdagli

Patent number: 11232380Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains an assessment result containing a rating of a candidate with respect to a qualification for an opportunity. Next, the system determines, based on the assessment result, a position of the rating in a distribution of assessment results associated with the qualification and one or more attributes of the opportunity. The system then compares the position to a threshold to determine a recommendation related to the candidate and the opportunity. Finally, the system outputs the recommendation in association with the candidate.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: January 25, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Christian V. Patent number: 11205144Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a first assessment result related to a first qualification of a candidate. Next, the system filters a set of opportunities based on a first comparison of the first assessment result with qualifications for the opportunities to produce a first subset of opportunities. The system then selects a second qualification associated with some or all of the first subset of opportunities to assess for the candidate. The system also filters the first subset of opportunities based on a second comparison of a second assessment result related to the second qualification of the candidate with additional qualifications for the first subset of opportunities to produce a second subset of opportunities. Finally, the system outputs recommendations related to applying to the second subset of opportunities by the candidate.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Christian V. Mathiesen, Emrecan Dogan, Alp Artar, Mustafa Emre Kazdagli

Publication number: 20210350719Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for skill assessment test calibration. An assessment test calibration system presents a test question relating to a skill to a set of users of an employment services platform. The assessment test calibration system receives a set of answers provided by the users for the test question and determines a difficultly score for the test questions based on the set of answers and the profile data included in the user profiles of the set of users. The difficulty score indicates an estimated level of difficulty of the test question. The test question is presented as part of an adaptive skill assessment test administered to determine a user's proficiency in the skill. The test question is presented at a point during the adaptive skill assessment test based the difficulty score determined for the test question.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2020Publication date: November 11, 2021Inventors: Christian Valdemar Mathiesen, Jiaqi Meng, Alp Artar, Joel Daniel Young

Publication number: 20210089993Abstract: Techniques for automatically deploying assessments over a computer network are provided. In one technique, an assessment is stored for applicants of an opportunity. First input that indicates that a first user applied for the opportunity is received. In response to receiving the first input, it is automatically determined to transmit a first assessment invitation to the first user. Second input that indicates that a second user applied for the opportunity is received. In response to receiving the second input, it is automatically determined to not transmit a second assessment invitation to the second user. Factors that may be considered in determining whether to transmit an assessment invitation include attributes (such as a review history) of the entity that created the opportunity or posting thereof, attributes (such as an assessment taking history) of the user that applied for the opportunity, and a current workload of the entity and of the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2019Publication date: March 25, 2021Inventors: Christian V. Publication number: 20210065094Abstract: Technologies for suggesting changes to job posting data to increase performance of a job posting for a job opportunity are provided. The disclosed techniques include a system receiving poster data that includes a plurality of attributes for the job posting. The job posting is creating based on the poster data. Once created, the job posting is made available through a content management system to job seekers. While the job posting is available through the content management system, a first performance metric is determined for the job posting. A plurality of similar job postings is identified. A second performance metric is determined based upon the plurality of similar job postings. A comparison is performed between the first and second performance metric. Based on the comparison, a suggested change to the job posting is determined and the system causes the suggested change to be presented to the poster of the job posting.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2019Publication date: March 4, 2021Inventors: Christian V. Publication number: 20200302397Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system applies a machine learning model to attributes of an opportunity to generate a set of confidence scores between the opportunity and a set of screening questions. Next, the system selects a subset of the screening questions with confidence scores that exceed a threshold for use with the opportunity. The system then stores the selected subset of the screening questions in association with the opportunity.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2019Publication date: September 24, 2020Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Christian V. Patent number: 10571606Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanoantenna arrays and fabrication methods of said nanoantenna arrays. In particular, one aspect relates to nanoantenna arrays including nanostructures of predefined shapes in predefined patterns, which results in collective excitement of surface plasmons. The nanoantenna arrays can be used for spectroscopy and nanospectroscopy. Another aspects of the present invention relate to a method of high-throughput fabrication of nanoantenna arrays includes fabricating a reusable nanostencil for nanostensil lithography (NSL) which provides a mask to deposit materials onto virtually any support, such as flexible and thin-film stretchable supports. The nanostencil lithography methods enable high quality, high-throughput fabrication of nanostructures on conducting, non-conducting and magnetic supports. The nanostencil can be prepared by etching nanoapertures of predefined patterns into a waffer or ceramic membrane.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2010Date of Patent: February 25, 2020Assignee: TRUSTEES OF BOSTON UNIVERSITYInventors: Hatice Altug, Ahmet Ali Yanik, Shyamsunder Erramilli, Ronen Adato, Serap Aksu, Min Huang, Alp Artar

Publication number: 20130065777Abstract: A sensor scheme combining nano-photonics and nano-fluidics on a single platform through the use of free-standing photonic crystals is described. By harnessing nano-scale openings, both fluidics and light can be manipulated at sub-wavelength scales. The convective flow is actively steered through the nanohole openings for effective delivery of the analytes to the sensor surface, and refractive index changes are detected in aqueous solutions. Systems and methods using cross-polarization measurements to further improve the detection limit by increasing the signal-to-noise ratio are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2010Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: TRUSTEES OF BOSTON UNIVERSITYInventors: Hatice Altug, Ahmet Ali Yanik, Min Huang, Alp Artar, John H.
