  • Patent number: 9482542
Abstract: Embodiments relate to generating a route plan. A method of generating a route plan is provided. The method receives a route planning request that includes a starting location, a destination location, a desired arrival time, and a set of user preferences. The method obtains transport service information that includes schedules of a plurality of transport services provided for a geographic region including the starting location and the destination location. The method determines a set of transport services for each of a plurality of possible intermediate locations between the starting and destination locations. The sets of transportation services provide a maximum probability of arriving at the destination location before the desired arrival time as long as a user takes a first-arriving transportation among the set of transport services at each intermediate location while traveling from the starting location to the destination location.

  • Patent number: 8218453
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of configuring routing information in a network router linked into a network. The network router has a forwarding table. The method comprises removing the forwarding table entries which are not used. A network router configured in accordance with the method has a forwarding table comprising only forwarding table entries that are used.

  • Patent number: 7577091
Abstract: In the area of network provisioning, there is a problem of selecting a suitable traffic-provisioning model for large networks due to the high management complexity of the resource-efficient trunk model and the poor bandwidth efficiency of the easy-to-configure hose model. The invention is based on the idea of partitioning at least part of the network into multi-node clusters, and defining traffic limitations on at least two levels, including the intra-cluster level and the inter-cluster level, where the traffic limitations include one or more node-to-cluster traffic limitations for inter-cluster traffic. Subsequently, cluster-based provisioning of the network is performed based on the traffic limitations. The novel node-to-cluster limitations proposed by the invention are preferably applied in a cluster-based trunk or hose model on the inter-cluster level.

  • Patent number: 7020086
Abstract: A method for practical QoS routing, which provides a solution to the delay constrained least cost routing problem, is presented. The method uses the concept of aggregated costs and finds the optimal multiplier based on Lagrange relaxation. The method is polynomial in running time, and produces a theoretical lower bound (i.e. optimal solution), along with the result. The differences between the lower bound and result are small, indicating the quality of the result. Additionally, by further relaxing the desire for an optimal solution, an option is provided to control the trade-off between running time of the algorithm and quality of the result.

  • Patent number: 6956821
Abstract: A path through a data network is calculated that accounts for priority levels of already-established paths. Potential new paths are determined taking into account priority level information associated with data network links. Of the determined paths, the path selected is preferably one having the least pre-emptive effect on lower priority traffic. The bandwidth reservation information for each data network link is determined along with the maximum bandwidth of each link and the available bandwidth at each priority level. Links with insufficient resources are eliminated from consideration. For the remaining candidate paths, determination for each link are make: which lower priority levels will be affected by the setup of the new path, how much reserved bandwidth will be pre-empted at each priority level, and how much free bandwidth is available at the lowers priority level. A path is selected that reduces or preferably minimizes some aspect of pre-emption.
