    Abstract: A point-of-sale payment system for facilitating remote payment of goods and services is described. A point-of-sale (POS) terminal communicates secure point-of-sale financial information to an authentication gateway through a wireless network. The authentication gateway instructs an e-commerce gateway to place an order for at least one item and to transfer funds associated with the at least one item to a respective account. The e-commerce gateway validates the request from the authentication gateway and notifies the authentication gateway whether the transaction was successful. The authentication gateway forwards the status to the POS terminal.
