    Abstract: A curvature measurement device is described having an elongated flexible member with at least one sensing wire attached at one end of the flexible member and extending along said flexible member to the other end thereof. The flexible member is attached to an object whose curvature is to be measured, such as the spine of a patient, and flexed in accordance with the shape of the object. A deviation sensing means coupled to the non-fixed end of the sensing wire measures the change in position of said wire as the flexible member is flexed to produce an electrical output signal proportional to the change in position.
