  • Patent number: 6228913
Abstract: The leveling of a floor polish composition can be improved by adding coumarin and/or a coumarin derivative thereto in an amount of from 0.05 to 10% by weight of polymer solids in said composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 1999
Date of Patent: May 8, 2001
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
Inventors: Joseph Michael Owens, Theodore Tysak, Alvin Charles Lavoie
  • Patent number: 5922398
Abstract: Disclosed are aqueous coating compositions containing a latex having pendant amine-functional groups, wherein such latex has a Tg greater than about 0 .degree. C. and is capable of film formation at application temperatures, and an amount of base sufficient to raise the pH of the composition to a point where essentially all of the amine functional groups are in a non-ionic state. Also disclosed are methods for producing fast drying coatings on suitable substrates by application of such coatings, where such coatings develop early water-resistance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1997
Date of Patent: July 13, 1999
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
Inventors: Ann Robertson Hermes, Alvin Charles Lavoie, Donald Craig Schall
  • Patent number: 5849833
Abstract: The present invention relates to fast drying waterborne printing inks and to method of using such inks in high speed printing processes, such rotogravure and flexographic printing processes. The printing ink includes, for example, a blend of a latex binder and a polyfunctional amine. The pH of the ink is raised by adding a sufficient amount of base, to a point where essentially all of the polyfunctional amine in the blend is in a deprotonated state.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 10, 1996
Date of Patent: December 15, 1998
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
Inventors: Caren Ann Puschak, Anne Margarat Bacho, Gary Robert Larson, Matthew Stewart Gebhard, Alvin Charles Lavoie
  • Patent number: 5820993
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of producing wear resistant traffic paint composition. In accordance with the method, a traffic marking of a traffic paint composition having low GPC number average molecular weight latex binder when applied to the road surface exhibits improved wear resistance over those traffic paint compositions having high GPC number average molecular weight latex binders. The wear resistance is further enhanced by modifying the latex polymer used in the composition with acetoacetyl functional pendant moiety and amino silane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 6, 1997
Date of Patent: October 13, 1998
Inventors: Donald Craig Schall, Alvin Charles Lavoie, Francis Joseph Landy, Steven Scott Edwards
