  • Patent number: 4342596
Abstract: A non-petroleum based metal corrosion inhibitor is provided. The inhibitor is a solution of compounds mixed together in particular proportions to form a non-petroleum based coating for preventing, or inhibiting, the oxidation of metals. The solution is prepared from aliphatic monobasic acids, aromatic acids, a lubricant, amines and water. A coating of the solution inhibits oxidation of metal surfaces, provides lubricity and need not be removed from a metal surface prior to painting. A non-petroleum based metal corrosion inhibitor without the lubricant is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4233176
Abstract: A non-petroleum based metal corrosion inhibitor, a process for preparing the inhibitor, a method of applying it to metal surfaces and advantages of the inhibitor and of surfaces which are coated with it are presented. The inhibitor is a solution of compounds mixed together in particular proportions to form a non-petroleum based coating for preventing, or inhibiting, the oxidation of metals. The solution is prepared from organic monobasic acids, a lubricant, a mixture of amines, and water. The solution is applied by spraying or rolling over the surface of steel or other metal. The coating inhibits oxidation of the metal surface and need not be removed from the surface prior to painting.

  • Patent number: 4116701
Abstract: A metal corrosion inhibitor and method of its application are provided. The inhibitor is a composition prepared by adding an alkali metal nitrite, ammonium benzoate, an alkylalkanolamine and a nitrogenous base such as urea to water. The inhibitor is applied as a mist or spray to the exposed edges of coiled and cut length sheets of steel to protect the steel during storage and is fogged into shipping containers or vehicles to protect the steel during shipping.
