    Abstract: A system and method for recovering energy from compressed air. The system and method a microprocessor based control module to monitor compressor discharge pressure and determine the need to bypass gas. Excess compressed air is bypassed to an energy recovery system that converts the potential energy of the compressed air into electrical or mechanical energy. Generated electrical power may be returned to the main power grid or used to power auxiliary equipment, such as the compressor's oil pump.
