  • Patent number: 6871745
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved distributor including a conduit having an inlet end to receive incoming slurry and an outlet end to feed slurry onto a treatment apparatus such as a filter. A plurality of spaced apart diverter rows are arranged within the conduit between the inlet and outlet ends including a first diverter row comprising one adjustable diverter that is selectively adjustable to divide incoming slurry into either two slurry streams or into three slurry streams. A last diverter row is provided adjacent the outlet end, and the last row includes a plurality of spaced apart non-adjustable diverters make a last division of the slurry before it is discharged onto the filter.

  • Patent number: 6036079
Abstract: A method [and apparatus] for refurbishing eroded portions in coke oven doorjambs including refurbishing apparatus having a framework attached to the coke oven structure adjacent the doorjamb. The framework supports a carriage that is simultaneously moveable in an "X" axis direction and a "Y" axis direction within the boundary so that a machine[-cutting] tool, attached to the carriage, can be moved from one position directly to another position within the framework boundary. [The machine-cutting tool is positioned to make cutting] The machine tool is moved directly to selected positions within the boundary to make machining passes along new metal that is fused into the eroded portions of the coke oven doorjamb.

  • Patent number: 5791100
Abstract: The invention is directed to metal planking used to construct planar surfaces, such as patio, porch and balcony decks, and interior floors and roofs of structures. The metal planking comprises an elongated strut and a slidable cap that covers the strut after the strut is fastened to support members in the structure. The strut includes a first flange and first web spaced apart from a second flange and second web, and a cord extending between the first web and the second web. The cord provides a surface for fastening the strut to the support members of the structure, and the cord includes at least one corrugation extending in an upward direction to a location adjacent the plane of the first and second strut flanges. The slidable cap includes a first hem extending along one edge of the cap, and a second hem extending along the opposite edge of the cap.

  • Patent number: 5401004
Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting a nozzle into the discharge bore of a steelmaking vessel including a carriage and a clamp means for demountably attaching the nozzle to the carriage. The apparatus further includes means to move the carriage toward or away from the steelmaking vessel while at the same time rotating the nozzle about its longitudinal axis as it is pressed into the discharge bore.

  • Patent number: 5337470
Abstract: A nozzle extraction tool for removing a worn nozzle insert from a steelmaking vessel. The nozzle extraction tool including a support frame, a gripper assembly, and a drive piston for applying a force to the gripper assembly. The gripper assembly includes pivotal gripper arms and a rod assembly for pivoting and rotating the gripper assembly 360.degree. about the longitudinal axis of the worn nozzle insert. The rod assembly enables the gripper arms to be securely seated against the uneven surfaces of the worn discharge bore extending through the nozzle insert.
