  • Patent number: 10302468
Abstract: According to an aspect of the invention a method for calibrating a measurement device is conceived wherein: a calibration device is brought into close proximity of the measurement device such that a data communication link is established between the measurement device and the calibration device; wherein the following steps are performed while the calibration device and the measurement device are in close proximity of each other: the calibration device performs a measurement of at least one physical phenomenon; the measurement device performs a measurement of the same physical phenomenon; the result of the measurement by the measurement device is compared with the result of the measurement by the calibration device; and calibration parameters are computed based on a difference between the result of the measurement by the measurement device and the result of the measurement by the calibration device.

  • Patent number: 9953145
Abstract: According to an aspect of the invention a configuration method for configuring a host device in a control system is conceived, in particular a building control system, wherein an authorized configuration device exchanges confidential configuration data with a radio frequency identification tag coupled to the host device, wherein, after the confidential configuration data have been exchanged and a corresponding configuration operation has been performed, access to the confidential configuration data by an unauthorized configuration device is precluded. According to further aspects of the invention a corresponding configuration device, a corresponding computer program product and a corresponding control system are conceived.

  • Patent number: 9762295
Abstract: According to an aspect of the invention a system for commissioning devices is provided, which system comprises: a first device and a second device; an RFID tag comprised in the first device; a host processor comprised in the first device; wherein the second device is arranged to generate an electromagnetic field; wherein the RFID tag is arranged to detect the electromagnetic field and to wake up the host processor upon detecting said electromagnetic field in order for the second device to communicate with the host processor. Furthermore, a corresponding method for commissioning devices is provided. Since the RFID tag comprised in the first device is arranged to wake up the host processor, an end-user does not have to switch on the first device manually. Therefore, the user interaction is simplified. Furthermore, there is no need for a separate power button on the first device. The latter reduces cost and simplifies the design of the first device.

  • Patent number: 9335251
Abstract: An environmental sensor is disclosed. The environmental sensor includes a semiconductor substrate including a light sensor, a surface through which ambient light can pass to reach a light sensor and a light source operable to illuminate the surface, whereby at least some of the light from the light source is reflected by the surface onto the light sensor. The environmental sensor is operable to determine the presence of a fouling layer on the surface by comparing measurements of ambient light and reflected light by the at least one light sensor.

  • Patent number: 9292795
Abstract: An interpretation engine for an interoperable device is disclosed. The interpretation engine is configured to receive data and to determine a function to be executed in response to the received data and in accordance with a knowledge base that comprises one or more relationships that are structured in triplets. Each triplet comprises a subject, a predicate and an object. The interpretation engine is configured to recognize only a predetermined, fixed plurality of predicate values.

  • Patent number: 8810158
Abstract: A lamp is provided that is controlled by messages transmitted via a network. The lamp has an internal memory that stores an address and an internal control circuit that responds to received messages that refer to this address. The address is updated when the lamp is installation in a power supply socket, using for example an address from the first message that is transmitted after installation. The lamp contains a detector that detects disconnection of the lamp from the power supply socket, for example by monitoring a resistance value between two parts of one of the power supply terminals of the lamp. In response to this detection the control circuit of the lamp sets information that enables an update of the address in the memory. When it is detected that the lamp is again connected to a power supply socket the address is updated on condition that the update is enabled.
