    Abstract: A polymeric composite material is disclosed. The material can include a continuous polymeric matrix that includes a thermoset polymer or a blend of thermoset polymers having a polyester, an epoxy, a nylon, or a polysiloxane, and a discontinuous phase including a plurality of polymeric aerogel particles dispersed within the continuous polymeric matrix, wherein the polymeric aerogel particles include a porous polymeric network. The polymer from the porous polymeric network of the plurality of polymeric aerogel particles can be in direct contact with the continuous polymeric matrix. The thermal conductivity (W/m·K) of the polymeric composite material can be lower when compared with the same polymeric composite material that does not include the discontinuous phase having the plurality of polymeric aerogel particles. The dielectric constant of the composite can be decreased when compared with the same composite that does not include the discontinuous phase having the plurality of polymeric aerogel particles.
