Abstract: A spell-checking writing implement includes a microphone configured to receive a spoken word. A microprocessor is configured to execute a voice recognition process that analyzes the spoken word to define a list of one or more possible text-based matches of the spoken word. The microphone is coupled to the microprocessor. A display screen, included within the spell-checking writing implement and coupled to the microprocessor, is configured to render the list of one or more possible text-based matches of the spoken word.
