  • Patent number: 11349550
Abstract: An integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network may allow for enhanced network coverage. However, there are control and management challenges associated with an integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network because the network and user equipments (UEs) are no longer confined to only using conventional cellular communication via terrestrial transmit-and-receive points (T-TRPs). One challenge is how to perform beam management. In some embodiments, methods and systems are disclosed in which an indication of angular direction (e.g. beam direction) is provided by the T-TRP. The indication of angular direction may be used by a UE for communicating with a non-terrestrial TRP (NT-TRP), e.g. using beamforming. However, the methods are not limited to integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial networks or the involvement of NT-TRPs, but apply more generally to indicating angular direction for directional communication.

  • Patent number: 11323223
Abstract: Aspects of the present application use diversity of more than one TCI state, QCL assumption, precoder and/or SRI on the network side to enable multiple transmission beams in a transmission period having multiple transmission opportunities to provide robust beam transmission from the network side. An example of transmission opportunities in a transmission period may be OFDM symbols in a slot. Aspects of the present application use diversity of more than one TCI state, QCL assumption, precoder and/or SRI at the UE to enable the UE to transmit multiple transmission beams in a configured transmission period having multiple transmission opportunities to provide robust transmission from the UEs. When using multiple transmission beams, in the event that data transmitted on one beam cannot be decoded (e.g. due to beam blockage, poor radio conditions, etc.), data transmitted on other beams can still be decoded successfully.

  • Patent number: 11212825
Abstract: Embodiments of the present application pertain to control information for scheduling a transmission resource for downlink and uplink communications between one or more TRP and one or more UE. One Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) for DL control information transmission is assumed to carry at least one assignment or scheduling information block for at least one Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) for DL data transmission or for at least one Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) for UL data transmission. • Publication number: 20210360436
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure introduce lower-layer, for example Layer 1 (L1) and/or Layer 2 (L2), based mobility beam management methods. • Publication number: 20210329512
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure pertain to mobility management processes for cells directly at Layer 1 (L1) or Layer 2 (L2), in a manner that reduces latency of inter-cell mobility methods and enhances user experience under mobility (i.e. handover). To address some of the limitations of existing inter-cell mobility methods, embodiments of the disclosure aid in enabling system information acquisition from neighbor cells for inter-cell mobility, system information update for neighbor cells for inter-cell mobility, radio link monitoring (RLM) for inter-cell mobility and using an uplink transmission mechanism for inter-cell mobility to acknowledge receipt of a handover message for inter-cell mobility.

  • Publication number: 20210328725
Abstract: Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) retransmissions based on User Equipment (UE) cooperation involves a first UE receiving a transmission comprising a data block that is destined for a second UE, and transmitting the data block toward the second UE according to a data block retransmission mechanism to enable the second UE to identify the data block transmitted from the first UE as being one of a plurality of concurrent transmissions of the data block according to the data block retransmission mechanism. The concurrent transmissions of the data block are processable by the second UE in combination to determine a reception status of the data block.

  • Patent number: 11096176
Abstract: Network equipment receives, from User Equipment (UE), information indicative of each of multiple UE locations in a wireless communication network. For each location, a respective antenna beam direction for communications between the network equipment and a UE at each location is determined. A Machine Learning (ML) module is trained using each location as an ML module input and the respective antenna beam direction for each location as an ML module output. The trained ML module is then used to provide beam predictions based on UE location. Based on the current location of a UE, one or more antenna beam directions for communications between the network equipment and the UE at the current location are obtained from the ML module. The UE location is input to the ML module, and the antenna beam direction(s) are then obtained from the ML module output(s).

  • Publication number: 20210105673
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure propose solutions to a problem of mobility interruption during handover between base stations by providing a UE with mechanisms to report the UE capability for simultaneous connectivity based handover, or so-called Dual Active Protocol Stack Handover (DAPS-HO). A UE reports the DAPS-HO capability of the UE to the network and then the base station initiates physical layer procedures to carry out DAPS-HO in accordance with the DAPS-HO capability reported by the UE. Aspects of the present disclosure also provide examples of signaling that may be used by the UE for reporting DAPS-HO capability to the network and the physical layer procedures that the UE may follow in accordance with the configuration that the network provides to the UE, which should be in accordance with the UE's capability.

  • Patent number: 10651998
Abstract: Networks use channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs) to measure channel conditions between a user equipment (UE) and a transmit/receive point (TRP) in a cell. The resources configured for the transmission of a CSI-RS may be indicated to the UE using higher layer signaling. Measurement results for a CSI-RS are transmitted by the UE in the form of a measurement report. A need exists for signaling designs that aim to provide more flexible and efficient signaling of CSI-RS resource configurations and measurement reports. In some embodiments, CSI-RS resource configurations and measurement reports are resource-specific. The CSI-RS resource configurations may be independent from an identifier of the cell that the CSI-RS is transmitted from, and the measurement reports do not necessarily include the identifier of the cell. Advantages may include allowing the network to freely allocate CSI-RS resources without the need for reconfiguration at the UE side.
