In one embodiment, a method for stimulating hair follicle neogenesis in a subject comprises the step of administering to the subject an effective amount of a TLR3 agonist. In certain embodiments, the TLR3 agonist is a double stranded RNA (dsRNA). The present invention is also directed to treating common male pattern hair loss.
