Abstract: According to certain aspects, a method can include electronically accessing, by a storage manager, a stored synchronization policy specifying at least a first folder associated with a first computing device and a second folder associated with a second computing device; identifying a first file stored in the first folder as a candidate for synchronization; receiving an indication as to a location of the first computing device and the second computing device; in response to a determination that the first computing device is not located within a geographic region, electronically generating and transmitting instructions to the first computing device to remove the first file from the first folder; and in response to a determination that the second computing device is located within the geographic region, electronically generating and transmitting instructions to cause transmission of the first file to the second computing device for storage in the second folder.

Abstract: A system and method to perform data management operations in a data management system assigns the data management request to one or more available data management resources. If the data management request fails, at least one data management resource at least partially responsible for the failure is determined, as is a category associated with the one data management resource at least partially responsible for the failure. Other data management requests are identified in a list of data management requests that request data management resources having the same category and the list of data management requests is updated to indicate that the data management system should not perform the other identified data management requests.

Abstract: A system according to certain aspects improves the process of managing log data. The system may receive a log data file including one or more log lines that contain information relating to computing operations. At least some of the log lines may include a static portion and a variable portion. The system may process a first log line to identify and extract a static portion from the first log line, and determine a first value for the first log line based on the extracted static portion. The system may process a second log line to identify and extract a static portion from the second log line, and determine a second value for the second log line based on the extracted static portion. The system may compare the first and second values, and based on the comparison, organize the first and second log lines together for presentation to a user.

A data storage system defines a client configuration profile comprising a set of storage operation properties, wherein the storage operation properties regulate criteria for performing storage operations by the data agent on client devices that are associated with the client configuration profile. A storage management system associates a first client device to the client configuration profile; and communicates the set of properties of the client configuration profile to property tables of corresponding objects in the first client device.

The index data and/or metadata may be synchronized on the client without synchronizing the secondary storage data itself.
