  • Publication number: 20230096521
Abstract: A method for conversion of food waste to biofuel can include a first fermentation in which food waste is converted C2-C4 short-chain carboxylic acids, and a second fermentation in which the C2-C4 short-chain carboxylic acid are elongated into C5-C8 medium-chain carboxylic acids. Medium-chain carboxylic acids can undergo hydrogenation-dehydration of the medium-chain carboxylic acids into C5-C8 linear olefins. The C5-C8 linear olefins are then oligomerized to a C10-C25 mixture comprising olefins, paraffin, cycloparaffins, and aromatics through dimerization; and saturated to C10-C25 mixture by hydrogenation to produce the biofuel.

  • Publication number: 20220373137
Abstract: A method and a precooling system are provided for precooling gaseous fuel supplied for fueling pressurized gaseous vehicle onboard storage tank systems. The precooling system is used in pressurized gaseous fueling stations with source fuels in cryogenic state, such as liquid hydrogen (LH2) and liquefied nature gas (LNG). A thermal buffer heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger medium, and a cold loop and a warm loop contained in the heat exchanger medium. A control unit is configured for controlling cryogenic fuel supplied to the cold loop for cooling the thermal buffer heat exchanger. • Patent number: 11105469
Abstract: An enhanced operating method and an integrated tube-trailers and stationary ground storage system are provided for implementing enhanced pressure consolidation operations for refueling gaseous fuels. The integrated tube-trailers and stationary ground storage system includes gaseous fuel supply tube-trailers and stationary ground storage including at least one or more stationary pressure vessels. A compressor can be supplied by both the stationary ground storage and the tube-trailers. The stationary ground storage can provide higher pressure to the compressor than the tube-trailers, enabling enhanced compressor throughput during refueling operation, and enhanced utilization of tube-trailers payload.

  • Patent number: 10267456
Abstract: A method and system are provided for operating refueling station tube-trailers and compressors to reduce hydrogen refueling cost. A hydrogen refueling station includes a two-tier fuel supply of pressure vessels on a refueling station tube-trailer, with a first tier and a second tier of pressure vessels including at least one or more pressure vessels connected together. A separate control unit is coupled to the first tier and the second tier of pressure vessels with each of the control units coupled to a compressor. The compressor is coupled to a high pressure buffer storage by a separate control unit. In operation, pressure is monitored in the each tier. Hydrogen is consolidated selectively between the first tier of pressure vessel banks, the second tier pressure vessels, and the high pressure buffer. Based upon monitored pressures, one of the first tier of pressure vessels, the second tier pressure vessel banks, and the high pressure buffer is used to refuel vehicles.

  • Patent number: 9739418
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for operating a refueling station including source tube-trailers and at least one compressor to reduce refueling cost. The refueling station includes a gaseous fuel supply source including a plurality of tanks on a tube trailer coupled to a first control unit, and high pressure buffer storage having predefined capacity coupled to a second control unit and the first tanks by a pressure control valve and the first control unit, and at least one compressor. The refueling station is operated at different modes depending on a state of the refueling station at the beginning of each operational mode. The refueling system is assessed at the end of each operational mode to identify the state of the system and select a next mode of operation. The operational modes include consolidating hydrogen, or any gaseous fuel, within the tubes mounted on the trailer.

  • Patent number: 6125839
Abstract: An outside air intake hood for receiving combustion air for delivery to a direct vent, fuel-fired heating appliance such as a water heater has an opposing pair of side inlets positionable to face parallel to an outside wall upon which the hood is mounted, an outer side wall extending between the inlets, and an outlet passage with an entry portion facing and spaced inwardly apart from the outer side wall. A generally V-shaped baffle member is positioned within the hollow body of the hood, with an apex portion of the baffle member facing the entry portion of the outlet passage. When the wind is horizontally blowing generally parallel to the outside wall, a side wall of the baffle member deflects the wind-driven outside air entering one of the hood side inlets into the outlet passage in a manner converting momentum of the entering air into pressure in a manner preventing the creation of an undesirable vacuum at the hood outlet.
